Sr G/L Accountant

Job Summary

 

Natural Products Group (NPG) sells personal care products through direct to consumer and retail distribution channels.  NPG has two subsidiaries Arbonne, an international direct to consumer distribution business, and Levlad, a manufacturing and retail sales business. This position is responsible for all the transactional accounting for Levlad, excluding cost of goods sold and inventory, accounts receivable and cash application and all accounts payable transaction processing..  This position is responsible for the monthly and quarterly accounting close process, regularly improving processes and completing assigned projects as defined.  This position could be located at Arbonne’s headquarters in Irvine or at Levlad, which is located in Chatsworth, California.  This position will report directly to the Corporate Controller, but will have extensive interaction and be held accountable to Levlad’s VP of Finance.  This will require routine travel to Levlad or Arbonne. 

  Primary Position Responsibilities

 

· Monthly Close Process and Month End Reporting

o  Responsible for maintenance of Levlad’s books to ensure they are kept in accordance with GAAP and that they accurately reflect the financial position of the company.  This includes understanding the GL, AP, Payroll, FA processes and transactions. 

o  Ensure timely generation of financial reporting and analyses for management. Identify problem/opportunity areas and support the management decision making process and generating ad hoc analyses as required.

o  Monitor capital expenditures compared to budget.

o  Insure timely reconciliation of sub-ledgers to GL.

o  Help troubleshoot and resolve accounting and financial reporting issues.

· Perform month-end processes

o  Prepare journal entries for assigned department and GL accounts

o  Prepare reconciliations for assigned accounts

o  Prepare month end department analysis reports including actuals, and actuals vs. budget, and other ad hoc reports as defined by the Levlad.

o  Directly interface with internal departments.

 

· Other

o  Support the annual corporate audit.  This includes scheduling and completion of internal audit prep work to ensure audit timetable is met.

o  Develop and recommend more efficient accounting methods/controls.

o  Attend Levlad month-end close meeting with analysis and comments on issues affecting Levlad.

o  Other special projects as defined.

 

Qualifications

  Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA preferred

 

Technical/Industry Requirements

Experience ideally includes working in a distribution and or manufacturing environment.  Medium to large company experience is preferred with high growth or turnaround company tenure.

  Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

A minimum of 4 years of experience with 2 years in private industry is required.  Experience in the following areas is desirable:

q Monthly closing

q Public accounting

 

Financial Systems Experience

Oracle or comparable ERP system skills highly desirable.
