They are in need of a Sr. Manager Accounting at their corporate office. This position is open due to growth and will report into one of the Assistant Controllers. They are looking for someone they can promote quickly to Assistant Controller.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Position Summary:
Manage financial accounting, month-end close, and property accounting processes. Lead financial close process, including ensuring integrity of all subsystem interfaces to the General Ledger. Responsible for headquarters accounting transactions and timely account reconciliations. Communicate close results to management. Ensure that appropriate levels of financial control are maintained throughout the company, and accounting transactions are properly prepared, documented, recorded, and reported in compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Lead property accounting team which includes fixed asset and lease accounting.
Position Responsibilities:
Manage the monthly financial close process, which includes the coordination of system interfaces to the general ledger and ensuring adequate review of financial data prior to month-end close.Develop reports that provide meaning financial performance analysis through the use of exception and variance reporting. Ensure that all reports are accurately and efficiently prepared and distributed on a timely basis.Maintain general ledger system and the associated Chart of Accounts. Ensure that all Company’ financial transactions are recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and with company accounting policy.Facilitate month end close meetings and review total company operating expense with management. Effectively address questions and issues raised by management.Ensure timely completion of monthly Balance Sheet Account reconciliation and facilitate the monthly balance sheet review process.Manage accounting for all expense accruals and ensure that the supporting documentation is adequate.Ensure that proper financial controls are maintained throughout the company. Ensure compliance with all appropriate policies and procedures and identify and resolve control issues.Supervise and manage financial systems team which is responsible for the proper development, operation, and maintenance of all Financial Accounting automated systems. Supervise and manage property accounting team which is responsible for fixed asset accounting, including maintenance of fixed asset subsystem; and lease accounting which includes accounting for rent, common area maintenance and property taxes.Compile, implement and monitor the annual department budget. Prepare monthly forecasts of departmental expense and related variance explanations.Provide training and coaching to staff. Provide support and direction to team members for resolution of issues. Work with staff to ensure that individual development needs are identified and addressed. Actively support recruiting and career development efforts.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’ degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA License highly preferredMinimum 5 to 7 years of accounting or finance work experience Strong knowledge of GAAP Supervisory experienceLawson and Essbase experience preferred but not requiredStrong accounting skills and advanced knowledge of GAAPPrior general ledger, fixed asset, lease accounting experienceStrong financial systems experience and report writing aptitudeExcellent communication and problem solving skillsHigh level of initiative and strong leadership abilitiesStrong organization and analytical skillsTeam player and results-orientedExperience interacting with all levels of managementRecent Public Company Experience with solid, stable, large company highly preferred
