Staff Accountant Summary


The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of accounting principles and corporate finance fundamentals.  Must have experience in preparation of journal entries, month-end closing process, management reports, debits and credits, general ledger, discounted cash flow analysis and prior experience in account analysis is required.



The candidate must be sharp and possess the ability to work independently and assume a great deal of responsibility in a multi-tasking environment.

 

 

Staff Accountant Duties & ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger: Prepare and input recurring and non-recurring journal entries. Prepare monthly general ledger supporting schedules and perform account analysis as required. Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP for three entities. Accounts Payable: Review invoices, including vendor coding, approval verification, and budgetary review. Initiate bi-monthly check runs and input related data. Research and respond to internal and external inquiries. Reporting: Assist in assembly of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages for three entities. Prepare and research detailed analysis of balance sheet and income statement account variances. Generate schedules as required to support information disclosed in the reporting packages.Review monthly bank statements and prepare bank reconciliations. Special Projects: Perform special projects as required by VP and/or Asst. Controller. Will assist with some HR Functions

 

 

 



 

 

 

Essential Staff Accountant Skills & Characteristics BS Finance/Accounting from accredited 4 year university is strongly preferredProficiency in Microsoft Excel1-3 years experienceKnowledge of accrual basis accountingStrong analytical skillsStrong skills in Excel and WordGood written and oral communication skillsMinimum 2 years experience in a related position
