Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the company’s various tax accounts and filings, and will prepare payments for all company taxes and licenses.  This position will work closely with the Accounting group and other departments to insure that sales and other taxes have been properly handled for both vendor and client transactions.  


Essential Functions:

 Tax Accounting

·  Work with outside accounting firm to prepare Sales & Use Tax returns for multiple states.

·  File Property Tax returns and prepare property tax payments for multiple states

·  Maintain Sales & Use Tax Rate files and procedures.  Coordinate with Purchasing, Accounts Receivable and the Settlements department to insure that taxes and fees have been handled appropriately for all payable and receivable transactions.

·  Maintain business licenses, registrations, and other filings as needed to insure compliance with federal, state and local regulations

·  Maintain, schedule and update Tax calendar for Sales & Use, Income, Property, and other taxes and licenses.

·  Coordinate company responses to sales and use tax audits as needed

 General Accounting

·  Analyze and perform general ledger account reconciliations

·  Prepare monthly journal entries as needed

·  Assist with special projects as required

·  Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

 BA/BS degree with a concentration in business or accounting2 – 3 years experience in multi-state tax filings, with exposure to rules, regulations and reporting requirements.Proficient use of MS Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.Experience in accounting system implementations and conversions Familiarity with MAS 500, Vertex, Cognos and FRx a plus, but not requiredADP or other Payroll experience is a plusStrong analytical and problem solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Self starter with excellent skills in organization, prioritization and follow-through.International and multi-currency experience a plusMust be committed to supporting business process improvements for the department and company.
