(1) EDITORIAL DIRECTOR - PHARMACEUTICAL ADVERTISING
(120 to 130K)
Will manage the editorial department's workflow, operations, and staffing, while assuring the quality of editorial and proofing work produced by team members. Helo set vision, mission and standards for editorial department.
Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for assigning staff to projects
- Review editorial work in order to ensure highest quality of editorial output
- Work closely with account and operations departments to move projects through editorial according to deadlines;
- Able to edit all types of projects / Ensure correct grammar, spelling, usage, and adherence to AMA style - Obtain, check accuracy of, and style reference citations
- Fact check information as appropriate to the project
- Acquire articles and highlight them as appropriate to the project
- Develop and maintain editorial style guides for each brand and implement style consistency
- Screen and hire freelance medical editors and proofreaders as required
- Review quality of work of freelance staff and provide objective feedback as required
- Execute all aspects of administrative responsibilities (timesheets, project briefs, Creative Manager) in appropriately detailed and timely manner
- Manage planning of freelance editorial staff and proofreaders as required
- In-depth mastery of AMA style

Must have at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. 3 years of medical editorial experience, familiarity with scientific terminology; ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a minimally supervised environment. must be familiar with ACCME guidelines, FDA regulations, journal manuscript submissions, and AMA style. Candidates must be fully conversant in WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT. In-house staff position at major pharmaceutical advertising agency specializing in print promotion and other media for both professional and consumer audiences. Candidate will perform all copyediting, proofreading, and factchecking on assigned accounts (and others as needed); generate and update style sheets; serve as liaison to client counterparts; and assist account teams with literature searches and document retrieval. Position demands fast and accurate copyediting and proofreading; thorough knowledge of medical terminology and AMA style; ability to quickly master specifics of assigned accounts and product categories, as well as accommodate multiple assignments effectively; familiarity with FDA/DDMAC regulations; extensive interaction and follow-through with account teams; good evaluative and decision-making skills; and ability to work independently. Knowledge of permissions procedures desirable for most account assignments. Edit, proofread, fact-check medical education material using. Duties include copyediting, proofreading, transcribing, some writing, fact checking. Experience supervising junior editorial staff and the editorial knowledge necessary to take ownership of their own projects and programs.
