At this time, we seek to hire an Engagement Manager (EM) to work with our existing high-tech West Coast clients. The position is based in our Fremont, Seattle office.
ENGAGEMENT MANAGER (EM)
The Engagement Manager (EM) has primary responsibility, in collaboration with Account Directors and Research Managers, for the successful design of consultative research projects that answer business problems, as well as the interpretation and delivery of compelling, insightful research study results.
The EM owns the client relationship during the engagement. The EM co-leads the research project team with the Research Manager (RM) and is responsible for fostering collaboration and teamwork. The EM is the primary client relationship interface for the engagement and the subject matter expert around the business problem and client requirements. They are responsible for determining how to bring the best of Management Insight to the client throughout the project, and for guiding the client through the research engagement process. They not only contribute heavily to the research design, but are the primary author for netting out the final story, and delivering compelling and actionable insights. The EM also follows up with the client on a regular basis to ensure our work is having the desired sustained business impact. More experienced EMs act as thought leaders in their area of expertise, and become sought after trusted advisors to their clients and colleagues.
Specific responsibilities of the EM include (but are not necessarily limited to):
Work closely with the Account Director or EVP of Accounts to create winning research proposals.Manage the day-to-day health of the client relationship during the project engagement, with cooperation and participation of the RM and Account Director (AD).Maintain clear, timely communications with internal and external stakeholders/clients Gather, compile and prioritize client requirements by leading the hypothesis sessions and/or interviews with client stakeholders.Act as the business problem subject matter expert by gathering information and briefing the MIT project team on the business/technology areaIn deep collaboration with the Research Manager, lead the design of a high-quality, business compelling research instrument (aka ‘questionnaire’) that meets client objectives, and is ‘designed for manufacturability’. Manage client feedback, and obtain final client sign-off of research instrument.Review the analytic plan, and contribute where appropriate, to ensure the plan will deliver findings in a way that meets the client business requirements.Design, or provide detailed requirements for, the executive summary template. Review the overall report template.Collaborate with the Research Team and client to develop insightful interpretations of study results once the field closes and data analysis is complete.Author the executive summary within each report – with a particular focus on netting out the overall story, and the key observations and implications so that they provide compelling, actionable insights. Review all non-executive summary content.Present report findings to client in person, or over the phone.Work with the RM and the Research Operations Staff (who are responsible for day-to-day tactical execution of research) to ensure that the research execution is consistent with field specs and remains on time and within budget.Demonstrate a high level of expertise when architecting research, authoring proposals, designing questionnaires, and writing up findings.Look for new project opportunities within existing network of contacts.
Required background and skills:
BA or BS degree required. Demonstrated familiarity with technologies such as server operating systems, high availability, virtualization, systems management, networking, storage solutions, and/or server software. Six or more years of high tech (product management, product marketing, product planning, channel marketing, or a similar role) or high tech market research experience.Excellent client relationship skills.Excellent business/technical writing and presentation skills, including the ability to succinctly communicate conclusions based on large amounts of data.High proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a deadline-driven environment. Excellent and proven project management skills characterized by meeting all commitments to customers on time and with high quality.Excellent team player. Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with clients, Research Managers, Account Directors, and other members of the MIT research team.Keen eye for detail and superior organizational skills.
Additional desired skills include:
Graduate degree in technology or business preferred.Creativity to develop PowerPoint slides with powerful message capabilities.Demonstrated competency and/or strong desire to learn more about market research methods and concepts.Ability to facilitate/moderate group sessions (focus groups, hypothesis sessions).
Salary and bonus structure are commensurate with experience.
