Summary Description
Seek new business. Represents VMS to its clients and prospective accounts and ad agencies. Targets, develops and maintains relationships with prospective and existing accounts. Conducts face-to-face meetings, presents VMS capabilities through formal business presentations, and through other marketing techniques.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
· Initiates and targets new business accounts
· Assembles marketing materials and arranges meetings for formal VMS presentations
· Follow-up on leads provided by Account Services Representatives.
· Works with Account Services Reps to ensure excellent client service.
· Keep current through relevant trade/ advertising/general publications for information on changes in advertising and other relevant industries in order to identify new sales opportunities. Works with the appropriate Account Services Representative to determine who will develop the lead.
· Handles issues for clients, as well as intercedes on behalf of the Account Services Rep to respond to client problems.
· Acts as liaison for clients with internal departments such as billing, accounting, operations, IT, etc. on an as needed basis. Interacts with other departments, such as Credit and Collections, Production and Research, to ensure maximum cooperation and effective communication.
· Responds and services clients with custom monitoring needs. Working with the Custom Monitoring department, designs projects that fit clients’ needs, as well as budgets. Drafts business proposals and contracts for service.
· Updates electronic and manual client databases containing information, such as contact data, opportunity in sales cycles, historical info, action items, client activity, etc. Maintains a complete, updated list of all accounts.
· Responsible for learning and keeping current in relevant client industries.
· Attends seminars, lectures, industry meetings/conferences, and other educational opportunities as directed, to increase awareness and understanding of the advertising community.
· Works to meet and exceed sales goals.
· Upon request may assist Credit and Collections to contact clients about past due invoices.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
· Four-year college degree preferred.
· Five years of advertising and outside sales work experience.
Skill/Knowledge:
· Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing. Ability to interact effectively with others—clients, subordinates, peers, superiors, and other employees in company.
· Skill in sales and client service.
· Working knowledge of Word and Excel, web browsing for research purposes.
· General knowledge of advertising. Thorough understanding of VMS services.
· Understanding of competitors offerings in order to distinguish and sell VMS.
· Ability to work under pressure meeting deadlines, managing and maintaining large account list while performing various required tasks.
· Ability to analyze problems, and to develop and implement plans to resolve problems.
· Understand up-sell potential by referring clients to VMS News.
