This position includes these areas of responsibility:
1. Systematic Decision-Making, Planning & Reporting: Enable the company tobecome more customer-focused in its decision-making, partnering with leadershipacross the enterprise to incorporate customer insights and brand delivery intotheir operational and strategic planning
2. Individual Projects: Provide customer-based insights that support internalpartners across the company’s functions and business units on a project byproject basis. Identify and support key business-unit, marketing and otherfunctional-group strategic projects that have the greatest potential to driveprofitable growth
3. Support business unit customer strategies and priority segments through theinterpretation of existing/new data and the development of segment-basedprofiles and insights. Understand the customer journey specific to thesestrategies and relevant to these segments, and be able to flag opportunities andthreats based on purchase drivers. Provide insights and analyses to definebusiness- and consumer-facing value propositions and branding strategies
4. Serve as Blue Shield’s central resource and a primary point of contact foridentifying, accessing and driving the synthesis of the data and insights neededto answer internal partners’ most critical business and marketing questions.Identify new data and research needed to effectively answer key questions
5. Champion the brand and customer-centric decision-making and provide relevanteducational and consulting support across the company. Develop presentations,white papers and other thought leadership vehicles. Establish and cultivate bestpractices in brand and customer insight development
The candidate must be able to:
• Develop and apply a deep and broad understanding of the underlying businessand marketing issues that insights are intended to address
• Ensure the relevance of areas for insight development to internal partners’business problems
• Demonstrate hypothesis-driven, problem-solving orientation and exceptionalability to create grounded and structured analyses from disparate internal andexternal sources of information
• Simplify complex issues and topics
The candidate should possess:
• Proven consulting skills, including listening, diplomacy, and thoughtleadership
• Demonstrated ability to both take direction and work independently
• Understanding of profitability models and how different actions could impactprofitability
• Disciplined, innovative and analytical thinking capable of generating criticalinsights
• Ability to transcend "silo" mentality
• Ability to lead and participate effectively cross-functional teams
• Ability to navigate easily between strategic and tactical levels of thinking
Requirements:
• B.A. in humanities or business; Masters in Business or relevant disciplinepreferred (could be psychology, anthropology, marketing or other area)
• 5-7 years business experience in marketing, insights or research role; 7-10years business experience in marketing, insights or research role preferred
