Buyer/Merchandiser

Our client, a fast-growing retailer in Virginia, is seeking a talented Buyer/Merchandiser who will be responsible for creating business strategies that develop the product brand and maximize profits for catalog and internet sales channels. The ideal candidate will be able to identify new opportunities and develop new concepts for the catalog and internet. Responsibilities: Manage external vendor relationships; research potential vendors, negotiate all terms of business including price breaks, off price promotions and co-op advertising funds Work with vendors to ensure all products are represented within company standards Research and develop new products and categories to expand offered content Assist the Director of Merchandising with the execution of email campaigns, direct mail catalogs and home pages Analyze email and catalog performance; utilize competitive analysis to make product and category recommendations Ensure pertinent product information is communicated to appropriate departments/team members Requirements: College degree preferred Minimum of three years experience in Inventory or Merchandising Planning/Buying Preferred Strong organizational and project management skills a must Proven ability to work with senior management, internal departments and external vendors Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills Proven analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills Ability to navigate the Internet a plus Named a 2007 Best Place to Work and a Fastest Growing Company (WBJ), The BOSS Group specializes in matching highly qualified creative, marketing, proposals, advertising and web talent with top temporary and permanent positions throughout the Washington, DC; Philadelphia, PA; Richmond, VA; Baltimore, MD; NJ/NYC; and Dallas-Fort Worth metro areas, and is an equal opportunity employer.
