Job Description:

CMPMedica’s Physicians Practice ( http://www.physicianspractice.com), is America’s largest physician business magazine. We operate comprehensive print, online, and live event solutions through: our Web site, specialty/topic specific supplement publications, special projects, etc. Physicians Practice has an immediate opening for an Associate Editor for our Baltimore headquarters.  This person will report to the Managing Editor.

 

Responsibilities:

· Write at least two feature articles per month and edit articles and columns for our national magazine.

· Manage our Web site and e-mail newsletters.

· Create editorial calendar and contract with freelance writers for each, ensuring that deadlines are met.

· Participate on special educational projects, proposal writing, undertake field research, and work on custom publications as assigned by the Senior Editor, Projects.

· Participate in all relevant meetings, including editorial, art, all-staff, etc.

· Originate and pitch editorial ideas for the magazine.

· Other duties as assigned and a willingness to travel for certain assignments.

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field

· 2+ years of experience in writing about business, particularly the business of healthcare, is preferred.

· Excellent proficiency in writing with solid grammar, spelling skills, and attention to detail.

· Familiarity with AP style preferred.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Word.

· Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.

· Able to handle multiple deadlines.

· Enjoys interacting with physicians and non-physician providers and staff.
