The Communications Manager establishes strategic, consultative relationships to enable the development and implementation of short- and long-term member and marketing communications plans and leveraging opportunities with clients and stakeholders. Clients include marketing communications directors and staff, including public affairs and sales and account management leaders. Clients also include media relations staff, management, and others as appropriate. This position also ensures that project outcomes meet client objectives and service standards and are appropriate for the target audience. The Marketing Communications Consultant is the lead on a team comprised of Project Managers and Project Coordinators. Communications Strategy Manager drives the unit's mandate to align communication initiatives with brand and reputation strategy and acts as a brand advocate and educator, ensuring that brand positioning is effectively communicated to internal and external target audiences. This position also collaborates with peers in Brand Management, Creative Services, Operations and Production, and other Consulting Services staff to promote and support Marketing Communications goals.Education/License/Certification: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or a related field; or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.Qualifications: MUST HAVE 5-8 years experience in communications project management or client/account management. Portfolio of work samples required. Ability to successfully manage a diverse workload to meet deadlines, budgets, and client expectations. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal constituencies, including various levels of management at the regional or program level. Thorough knowledge of sales and marketing principles in a corporate atmosphere and appropriate use of a broad range of communications vehicles. Ability to understand and synthesize diverse perspectives and needs, collaborate, negotiate, and develop consensus. Demonstrated team leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills. Proficient with software used by department.Preferred Qualifications: Duties: Provide strategic consulting services to clients. Partner with clients and stakeholders to develop annual communication plans, integrated campaigns, and communication objectives that are consistent with business strategy. Proactively establish and successfully maintain effective consulting relationships with program-wide, regional, and/or service area clients, as well as with business lines and other communication functions as appropriate. Proactively identify new business opportunities for increasing program-wide utilization of Marketing Communications services. In partnership with communications leaders such as those in Public Affairs, educate internal stakeholders on brand positioning and ensure that communications projects meet brand identity standards and messaging guidelines. Proactively identify additional opportunities for leveraging communications planning and projects. Proactively identify new business opportunities for increasing program-wide utilization of Marketing Communications services. In conjunction with Brand Management and Creative Services partners, develop and inform the creative brief for communications projects. Convey project objectives, target audience information, relevant research, client expectations, and strategic direction to team, and provide high-level creative input. Work closely with project teams and Brand Management, Creative Services, and Production peers to establish and monitor budgets for internal and client-driven projects. Track and report project costs to Consulting Services Supervisors in a timely and accurate manner. With Consulting Services Supervisor, ensure that project team fulfills the objectives of the creative brief with respect to creative execution, budget, timing, business strategy, brand standards, and target audience. Lead teams of Project Managers and Project Coordinators to ensure communications projects meet all required criteria for accuracy and legal compliance. Ensure client service and satisfaction with regard to timely, cost-effective execution of communications projects. Confirm that projects move forward within acceptable timeframes and negotiate with clients regarding schedules and deliverables to ensure that projects can be completed in standard, non-rush parameters. Provide team leadership in the development, maintenance, and dissemination of program-wide, regional and/or service area information regarding services and facilities.
