Copy Writer

Established in 1968, Harbor Freight Tools is a fast growing, well established privately held retail company opening stores across the United States.  We currently operate over 270 stores in 44 states with plans to open over 30 stores per year.  We are seeking a CopyWriter to join our growing Art Department in Camarillo, CA 

 

Requirements include:Responsible for effective market-driven communications that produce sales, establish and maintain consumer awareness, and foster repeat business.  Responsible for developing and implementing copy for new products, retail flyers, catalog, packaging and e-commerce sites. Write brief, key benefit descriptive product copy for our weekly retail flyers/inserts that support our nationwide retail store network. Writes benefit oriented copy selling the product benefits and relating them to the need of targeted professionals served by our consumer-to-business catalogs and demographic groups targeted by our consumer catalogs.  Requires coordination with buyers, catalog production staff, retail production staff and packaging production staff. Performs copy rewrites of outdated versions. Writes and edits articles for company newsletter under the direction of the HR Department.Proofreads all copy before it is circulated to the merchandising staff or other departments; organizes and maintains all copy in the STEP database.Utilizes Microsoft Word software and STEP DAM software; establishes styles and standards for copy, instructions, booklets and corporate communications.Position may be required to work beyond normal scheduled work hours as necessitated by business requirements.

 

Qualifications:Bachelor of Arts Degree and 1-3 years experience in writing for advertising/marketing.Knowledge of word processing/desktop software programs; MS-Word.Self-directed; deadline focused.Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent proofreading skills.Effective team player.
