Corporate Communications Specialist

The Corporate Communications Specialist oversees the building, maintaining and continuous improvement of communication links within the organization’s internal and among its external audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Initiates, develops, implements and administers diverse corporate communications and marketing projects and programs that fulfill the overall strategic goals and business objectives of the organization.

• Acts as a resource and consultant on communication issues and marketing opportunities for all divisions and businesses within the company.

• Primary writer for What’s New content, staff writer for corporate content for company intranet and Internet.

• Is self-directed and works well within teams, both long term and short term, to carry out the work of the Corporate Communications and Marketing process. This responsibility entails significant and critical interface with Freedom’s corporate executive staff, business leaders and associates, as well as community leaders, executives, media representatives (television, print, online) and non-profit organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Demonstrated competency in the following:

• Excellent research, reporting, writing and editing skills for print and on-line content as well excellent oral and presentation skills.

• Comprehensive knowledge of communication and marketing processes, tools and technology. Progressive and innovative approach to finding cost-effective ways to communicate corporate information to Freedom’s associates.

• Project and process management from creation to completion with minimal supervision. Ability to build teams and supervise freelancers and designers.

• Ability to network within the organization and local community. Customer focused with a sense of urgency and service attitude toward key internal client groups and others.

• Collaborate with others in maintaining a database, web-related projects. Problem solving skills.

• Ability to work with media representatives outside the organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent.

• Minimum 2-3 years of previous work experience either in corporate communications and/or marketing environments.

Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• PC and/or MAC literate in work processing, some design and spreadsheets.

• Print production and design literate.

• Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to new/changing situations, usually under pressure and with deadlines.
