Data Warehouse Data Architect

Our client is recognized as a leader in the Services business, recognizable in the Dallas – Fort Worth area! They require a Data Warehouse Data Architect to be responsible for the analysis, design, and development of database structures for a large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

As the Data Architect / Modeler, you will be responsible for the conceptual, logical, and physical modeling of the Enterprise Data Warehouse / Data Mart environments. You will regularly interact with various development teams, project manager, business analysts, and end-users.

As the ideal candidate, you should be experienced in analyzing, defining, and documenting data requirements from existing OLTP applications. You should also be able to identify and define data sourcing, business rules, and transformation logic for next phases of the project and capable of facilitating Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions and one-on-one interviews.

Duties:
-- Gather, analyze, and transform business requirements into logical data models.
-- Validate logical data models with business subject matter experts.
-- Assist Database Administrator in transitioning to database schemas from logical data models.
-- Define and enforce standards and conventions (definition, naming, abbreviation).
-- Manage and administer metadata repository and modeling CASE tools.
-- Support project teams on an ad-hoc, as-required basis.

Key Objectives:
-- Develop strategic plan for support of client's future information requirements.
-- Support effective and efficient business processes in partnership with other software development teams.
-- Identify ownership and accountability for enterprise information.
-- Develop Enterprise Data Model (EDM).
-- Create and refine logical data models that reflect concepts/structures in the EDW and serve as the basis for relational database design.
-- Ensure that information needs and business rules are in compliance with global policies and standards.
-- Participate in evaluating new technologies to ensure the continuity and advancement of data and technology architecture within the client's information needs.
-- Build a framework for accurately capturing, sharing, distributing, securing, and leveraging the client’s data resources.
-- Provide enterprise metadata repository services.

Minimum:
-- Excellent Data Architecture / Data Modeling experience for large-scale applications.
-- Minimum 5 years experience in a Data Architect or Data Administrator role .
-- Strong background in structured systems and data analysis.
-- Demonstrated ability with JAD and RAD methodologies.
-- Expertise in relational database design (normalized and dimensional).
-- Skilled with one or more data modeling CASE tools (e.g., ERwin, SilverRun, LBMS, S-Designor).
-- Proficient with MS Office suite.

Required:
-- 7+ years overall IT experience.
-- 3+ years experience with data modeling tools such as ERwin, S-Designor, or equivalent.
-- Strong ability to work with business units to formulate business and data requirements.
-- Ability to work with database administrators to complete database designs and models.
-- Highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills dedicated to completing tasks on schedule.
-- Willing to work overtime as needed.

Desired:
-- Experienced working with an Enterprise Integration project(s).
-- Consumer and/or retail experience a plus.
-- Database administration experience is a plus.
-- Knowledge of Unix a plus.
-- 2+ years Data Warehouse architecture experience.

Education:
BS or BA, desirable.
