Occupation:Sr. Project Manager Job Description: DESCRIPTION: Plan and successfully implement simultaneous multi-discipline technology projects of all sizes, small to large. There is a particular focus on projects that involve software development and have a strong data center and IT infrastructure component (e.g. servers, databases, SAN, networking, OS technologies). RESPONSIBILITIES • Define and refine objectives and determine the best course of action to achieve project goals and deliverables. • Obtain resource commitments from the discipline managers and assemble implementation teams. • Validate with the solutions analysts that the business requirements and scope have been analyzed and documented. • Coordinate technical reviews with other IT groups to develop and document technical architecture and design. • Present requirements, scope and design artifacts to management for approval. • Develop detailed project plans with dependencies and key milestones based on coordination with all project stakeholders. • Develop and document acceptance criteria, anticipated benefits, and metrics to measure project success. • Work with project teams to identify project risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation plans. • Ensure project objectives are met by monitoring and measuring progress regularly to identify variances from the plan and take corrective action as necessary. • Maintain detailed project plans, resource schedules, and timelines with major milestones. • Schedule and facilitate project team meetings to ensure all project requirements are effectively communicated to team members. • Perform status reporting to communicate progress to project sponsors, key stakeholders and IT management. This includes IT scorecard and capital expenditures forecasting and reporting. • Maintain an issues list and communicate key issues to project sponsors, key stakeholders and IT management • Track project spending and ensure project costs are allocated to the appropriate cost centers. • Ensure that budget variances are highlighted to IT Management and the project sponsor. • Implement and manage the change control process for assigned projects. • Monitor project risks and coordinate the execution of the risk mitigation plan. • Consolidate and present the estimated hardware, software, consulting and personnel costs to the project sponsor for inclusion in the AFE. Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation and justifications as appropriate. • Initiate the project in the time tracking system and status reporting systems • Complete the final accounting of hardware, software, consulting and personnel costs relative to initial budget projections. • Ensure that processes/procedures are in place to support project metrics. • Work with discipline managers to develop and document service level agreements with project sponsors and key stakeholders. • Ensure that all acceptance criteria have been satisfied. • Coordinate the development of support documentation for the systems administration and data center operations staff. • Coordinate all warranty activities post implementation to resolve any issues prior to fully transitioning support to the standard, routine procedures and groups. • Assist with the on-going support of the systems, equipment and processes by providing project-related knowledge and history to the organization. • Promote and participate in the development and deployment of project management methodologies, policies, procedures and best practices. Supervision Received • Receive general direction and guidance from direct manager and senior leadership team. Supervision Exercised • Manage multiple projects, professional and technical staff as assigned and other activities related to project management. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Minimum of seven years project management • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, simultaneous infrastructure projects • Broad-based knowledge and five years experience with overall system network architecture and related technologies • Working knowledge and five years experience with hardware, software and operating systems including – UNIX, Windows 2000/2003, Open VMS, Oracle, Desktop Technologies, WAN/LAN networking, DNS, SAN, F5, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, TCP/IP, Cisco Product line, Network and System Security concepts • Demonstrated strong negotiating skills • Meeting presentation and facilitation skills • Microsoft Project skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Basic understanding of business finance principles: capitalization, expense, forecasting • Demonstrated strong attention to detail • Skilled at conflict resolution • Ability to lead, drive and challenge the team • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff.
