This person will be responsible for the domestic and international design direction of packaging for all major brands and innovation concepts. The Design Manager will drive and elevate the visual reinforcement of brands by developing global design strategies, directing the creative product, and managing beginning-to-end projects for multiple haircare packaging brands (as seen on shelf, in various media outlets; print ads, commercials, web, etc. This package branding will contribute to the equity of our client's global brands. Experience with a variety of the design field's concepts, practices and procedure is beneficial. This position requires extensive experience and judgment in planning and achieving goals. This position entails a large degree of people management. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Responsibilities for the "Design Manager" include: 1) Write creative briefs for all large-scale, global packaging initiatives. (This entails includes extensive global branding and global design knowledge). 2) Function as the Creative Director, (ideation through execution), leading 1-2 Innovation team members and external design partners. 3) Work collaboratively with design firms, marketing, product and technology development, production planning, legal, procurement and package production teams to ensure design intent, schedules and budget are maintained. 4) Select and manage external design resources against the developed strategic direction. Lead ongoing evaluation of package design by quantifying, outlining and presenting improvements to evolve our brands. 5) Consult non-packaging design projects - corporate communications, events, brand promotions and innovation promotions. 6) Mentor and develop junior team members. MANDATORY:1) 4 year college degree concentrating in Design 2) 8+ years of relevant brand design experience 3) "Hands-on" skills in Quark, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and other relevant programs. 4) A strong, cohesive, portfolio with recent samples of cutting-edge work.
