Position Description, Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for the management direction of all phases of a product development from product plan approval through production and release.

Functions as the central resource with marketing design, manufacturing, quality, and test as the product(s) move to completion and distribution.  Ensures that products shipped meet specifications and quality goals.  Formulates and executes long term plans for cost/profit control.

Responsible for activities related to the technical support and product development/manufacturing engineering functions of Siliconix Integrated Product Division. Manages the activities of sustaining product engineering and yield improvement of IPD products, involving cross-functional teams focused also on release to manufacturing of new or existing products. 

Plans and implements product engineering activities of new products, establishing/auditing operating equipment specifications, improvement of manufacturing techniques, and new process production equipment. 

Acts as engineering liaison within future subcontractors sites with responsibilities to ensure product/processes and designs are compatible with the manufacturing systems and are in accordance to Siliconix IPD standards.

Plans and directs projects schedules and budgets.

Monitors the project from initiation through delivery. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. 

Proposes product/process changes to achieve products improvement and/or yield improvements. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.  Functions as the central resource for planning, manufacturing, quality, and test as the product(s) move to production.  Ensures that products shipped meet specifications and quality goals.  Formulates and executes long term plans for cost/profit control over products released to manufacturing. Receives assignments in the form of objectives from the Divisional VP and establishes goals to meet objectives.  Provides guidance to subordinates/team members to achieve goals in accordance with established policies.  Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.  Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations.  Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. 

 

 

OTHER DUTIES :

Overall Product Engineering responsibility.

·  Manage all aspects of the IPD product engineering from initiation to planning to control to execution to closure.

·  Must be able to understand the NP9000 rule document and translate it into an accurate, usable and flexible process for manufacturing monitoring and product release to manufacturing.

·  Work with the Siliconix’s and Subcontractors QA groups to ensure integrity, robustness and reliability of final products.

·  Work with the design team and technology process groups in Siliconix and Subcontractors to understand expectations and requirements and dependencies.

·  Must have strong teamwork, communication skills and negotiation skills with the ability to address changes and issues and prioritize tasks effectively.

·  Respond effectively to Operation Managers and Development Manager Function requests in a timely and consistent manner.


KEY MEASURABLE :

·  Engineering Samples cycle time of new products.

·  Product development to manufacturing release schedule vs. plan.

·  Yield actual vs. plan and on-budget project costs.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

·  MSEE degree from a four year accredited institution and 5 years of experience in Product Engineering of multi chip products.

·  Good interpersonal skills to interface with operation/quality/design and support groups

·  Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and capability to gain respect and trust.

·  Highly organized with strong multitasking skills.

·  Strong technical knowledge and competence in product engineering as well as in manufacturing experience of System in Package/multi-chip products.

·  The candidate to will be a confident, participative, and proven leader.  Experience in the competitive, advanced technology electronics manufacturing industry paired with a background in product development and sales/marketing is essential to the role.

·  The individual to succeed will take a hands-on approach and embrace a collaborative & communicative leadership style.

·  The individual will present a measurable, proven record of accomplishments, excellent business instincts, judgment and possess a solid work ethic.
