PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Director of Performance Planning & Management is responsible for leading customer-centric, data-driven strategies for our clients and for overseeing their on-going implementation and evolution.
These strategies serve as an overarching approach for the design, development and deployment of integrated media and marketing programs across the customer lifecycle - from driving brand awareness, positioning and consideration through to purchase, loyalty and referral. The resulting roadmap draws heavily from Customer Relationship Management (CRM) principles as well as best practices within the emerging customer-led marketplace.
While led by the Director, each client’s strategy and the resulting initiatives are created in partnership with senior Account leadership as well as leadership from the integrated capabilities of the Marketing Sciences organization include Customer Insights, Data Intelligence and Enabling Technologies.
The Director will also work closely with Operations which ensures that the various teams managing in-market activity, as well as those providing functional support, align to deliver a tightly integrated program.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Provide leadership to a portfolio of clients through collaborative development of strategic architectures and by managing continuous performance optimization through the increased use of consumer insight, data analysis and enabling technologies.
Maintain a deep understanding of the client’s business, marketplace and competitive environment to provide context for strategic planning and on-going consultation
Lead and participate in operational audits and assessments of the client’s core functional capabilities including customer research, product development, pricing, distribution, finance, data management and technology as they relate to Marketing, Sales and Support capabilities
Work with senior Account and client leadership teams to define business, marketing and customer goals with associated KPIs and success metrics
Lead integrated planning across multiple disciplines including Account Management, Consumer Insights, Data Intelligence and Enabling Technologies
Draw on the capabilities of subject matter experts, internal and external to the Aegis network, to develop and pursue a vision that delivers enhanced performance in the near, mid and long-term
Partner with the Consumer Insights team to develop an approach for delivering continuous marketplace insight and consumer analysis required to power performance monitoring, measurement and optimization
Partner with Data Intelligence to create testing, monitoring and measurement strategies designed to determine tactical and strategic impact on key performance indicators and metrics
Model and forecast anticipated financial performance of proposed approaches and programs
Serve as the strategic hub for managing and choreographing the broader goals and focus of other agency and vendor relationships the client may haveServe an objective, performance-focused advisor to Account and client leadersPlay an active role in new business development through direct leadership, participation or supportPartner with the VP, Performance Planning & Management to develop formal products, services or processes that strengthen the value of Carat’s Marketing Sciences group.Provide support, coaching, and training to other staff membersCreate staff development plans for direct reports, provide frequent feedback as well as more formal annual performance evaluations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Success within this role requires a strategic, integrated marketer who is comfortable partnering with capabilities and concepts across a wide range of disciplines ranging from integrated media management, CRM, database marketing, analytics, technology, economics, research and operations.
Bachelors degree in marketing, statistics, mathematics or economics: MBA or an advanced degree strongly preferred8-10 years of advancing responsibility within multi-channel direct marketing roles4-6 years of hands-on experience in management consulting or CRM consultingWorking knowledge of CRM disciplines including primary research, customer segmentation, database marketing, contact design and management, data management/analytics and technical enablement
· Experience driving the strategic planning and design of marketing and sales strategies across all stages of the customer lifecycle - from demand generation to new customer on-boarding, growth, retention and win back
· Successful management and direction of teams ranging from 4-10 individuals focused on businesses analysis, strategic planning, data analytics, technology audits, multi-channel marketing/sales and performance optimization Demonstrated experience in leading/participating in cross-functional teams both within an agency/consulting environment as well as within client organizationsComfortable independently leading and managing senior client relationshipsExperience in negotiating with and supervising 3rd partiesStrategic/creative thinker with strong marketing and analytical skillsExperience partnering with internal business development teams and responding to “Requests for Proposal”Possession of excellent written, oral communication and presentation skillsOther character/personality traits required include intellectual curiosity, responsibility, determination, creativity, flexibility, drive, and self-confidence
