Director of Product Development

Director of Product Development opening in Pennsylvania. Participate in and provide leadership in the business/product development process to create enhanced insurance products and services for targeted line(s) of business and industry segments. Manages strategic product plans for entry into new markets, BOPS umbrella and commercial auto. Consult and assist our Business Systems unit and P&C software developers with particular emphasis on product development wizards and tools. Manages market research process to identify, analyze, and evaluate markets, products, and /or services. Leads communication and training efforts to ensure implementation and marketing of new products and services. Monitors and responds to marketplace product acceptance and modifies strategies to meet demand. Responsibilities: assigned business line(s), defines business development strategies to create efficiency and maximize business results in the development and implementation of new enhanced products, services, and underwriting/sales tools. Consults with business leadership team to identify and maximize new business opportunities. Leads the market research and strategic analysis of the marketplace to identify new and enhanced customer product needs. Monitors industry changes, trends, and competitive movements to capitalize on opportunities and respond to changing insurance needs of customers as well as anticipating future needs. Participate in and complement Business Systems team and in-house programmers to develop software applications requirements in one or more of the Professional Liability or Property and Casualty Insurance specialties. Manages product development planning process for new product entry and entry to new markets. Directs individual product initiatives from the planning stage through implementation. Once implemented, continues to monitor and analyze product acceptance and enhance products based on business and customer needs. Collaborates with other groups such as Marketing and Distribution where appropriate in the development of customer product marketing plans, promotional materials, advertising and communication materials for line(s) products. College degree or equivalent and 7 or more years related marketing, research, and product development experience in the P & C insurance industry. Knowledge of underwriting and business development processes including experience in pricing coverages is required. Advanced marketing and business planning skills with strong product management. Excellent research and analytical skills required. Proven ability to effectively manage, communicate, negotiate, lead, and market decisions. Experience in working with system/software development a plus. Must be able to influence key stakeholders and impact results. Salary $Open. Relocation package available.
