Director of Properties & Platforms

Position overview:

Plan, develop, organize, implement and direct the sales focus for ownable platforms and properties. This position is responsible for identifying and exploring new business opportunities to enhance the growth and profitability of the agency.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as lead sales executive for Relay’s property group
• Work with the Strategy and Product Development (Creative) teams to provide direction and leadership for Relay platform and property initiatives, with specific focus on sales
• Participate in the development of the Agency's plans and programs as a strategic partner and as an effective developer of solutions to client business challenges.

Direct Sales & Sales Strategy (50%)
• Partners with appropriate Relay leadership, business leaders and sales teams (sector and BU direct) to help market, and sell experiential platform offerings.
• Thorough examination of existing initiatives, current sponsors, media assets and packaging
• Assessment of property's prior sales experiences and long-term property plans
• Identification of partners/elements that will enhance the property
• Development of sponsorship benefits and price points
• Targeting of prospects across key categories and brands
• Identification and pursuit of potential partners and new revenue streams, development and cultivation of sales pipeline
• Development of professional sales approach, team and supporting materials
• Customizing packages that deliver results for all parties including category/company specific activation plan

Solution/Offering Development (10%)
• Lead continual refinement and evolution of Relay platform solutions/offerings and pull-through of other Relay business services as appropriate
• Ensure utilization of best practices and innovation across strategy teams as they apply platform solutions to client needs


Client Satisfaction: (5%)
• Work in collaboration with direct reports, sales personnel and Dedicated Account Teams to understand customer needs.
• Ensure that direct reports lead their teams to have a common understanding of their customers' businesses and how our organization helps them achieve their business goals.
• Provide leadership and support to Strategy and Creative Teams in preparing/responding to client presentations.
• Attend quarterly account review meetings and planning and strategy meetings to ensure business and resource alignment.

People Management (10%)
• Ensure development plans are in place for future management candidates.
• Ensure direct reports are fully trained as Relay managers, which includes appropriate leadership/management training as well as standard operations procedures, corporate policies, performance reviews, client standards and objectives, values and administration practices.
• Determine performance standards and objectives with direct reports.
• Coach and develop direct reports by providing feedback on performance objectives and assisting with development plans.

 

Business Planning (15%)
• Develop strategic plans for their span of control to support area objectives.
• Develop and manage new business operating budgets
• Meets with key potential clients to maintain relationships
• Provide updated tracking and forecasting on salesforce.com
• Coach direct reports in developing and achieving objectives
• Attend monthly business performance reviews and strategic update meetings.


Communication (10%)
• Share and Communicate annual plan goals, strategies and tactics to direct reports and relevant work groups and ensure development of plans to support alignment and achievement of departmental goals.
• Communicate customer service trends to direct reports.
• Represent strategic perspective of platforms and properties with clients and network partners.
• Lead meetings with Strategy and Creative Teams to communicate industry trends, benchmarks, client information, process improvements, and strategic plans.

 

 

Required Key Skills: An experienced leader and new business executive with appropriate industry experience Minimum of 7-10 years experience Position requires a proven track record in leading sales efforts and driving revenue growth, and a demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate senior-level relationships with companies and other business partners. Strong experience in the event marketing and/or sponsorship field Bachelor degree required, advanced degree preferred A strategic visionary who has an ability to think ahead and plan over a 5 year time span Must be able to exhibit strong presentation skills Must show ability to lead brainstorm session and deliver ideas that are on strategy and will drive clients’ businessAbility to maintain effective and respected work relationships with other management and employees Ability to present and communicate ideas and concepts An organized and self-directed individual who is "politically savvy" and a team player Must be responsive to the client needs and follow through on all aspects of request, both written and verbal. Ability to make independent judgments which have highly significant impacts on the organization Ability to relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills A good educator and people manager who is trustworthy and willing to share information and serve as a mentorAbility to plan, delegate, and supervise personnel in a manner which will gain respect Must have a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is well versed in systems Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems
