Director of Research

Primary Purpose:
Directs a research staff engaged in quantitative and qualitative research analysis.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the collection and analysis of relevant information concerning current and potential markets and competitors.
- Plans and ensures that the necessary market research analysis is accurately undertaken and completed to effect the successful implementation of current and new business situations.
- Delegates project responsibilities and supervises subordinates in all phases of data research, systems maintenance, analysis and reporting.
- Responsible for insuring market adherence to defined research standards and practices.
- Monitors third party research methods for adherence to standards and practices.
- Keeps abreast of market research techniques; new trends and seeks new ways to utilize research to support the sales strategy.
- Trains managers and analysts to use both accepted and innovative research techniques, standards and practices.
- Maintains a library of market data
- Searches for new sources of information pertinent to media sales in support of the sales strategy
- Works on budget planning for the department and monitors approved budgets; works on contract negotiations with vendors.
- Recommends special studies, additional third party research, and/or software to support further analysis of market conditions, viewership information, media buying habits and consumer behavior.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years in media research experience.
- Previous management experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, sales and management personnel.
- Proficient with computer software and technology.
- Awareness of competitive conditions

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required
