We have an opportunity for a Director of User Experience within the Creative Discipline at Studiocom. You will be strategize, create and design the user experience for Studiocom clients’ web sites and interactive applications. This will include, but isn’t limited to, interactive features, functionalities, information presentations, navigational structures, and data. You will work with clients to understand their business models and goals and help define strategy, content, and features for design of their web sites.
This role also requires the ability to work effectively with a variety of disciplines and business groups including sales, marketing, design, and development teams and must be adept at applying and “selling” UX solutions throughout the organization. You will be responsible for strategizing, developing and conducting user research and testing procedures including, but not limited to, focus groups and usability tests.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Functions
· Provide guidance, insight and leadership to a team of User Experience Architects, including providing clear expectations, training, guidance, career growth opportunities and conflict resolution
· Establish, optimize and manage user experience management methodologies, incorporating industry standard best practices and lessons learned on previous projects, and ensuring the team is in line with companywide methodologies
· Direct and develop vision for User Experience integration into products, processes, and tools
· Direct the establishment of guidelines, governance and standards for User Experience
· Direct the consistent application of the latest User-Centered Design methodologies, Information Architecture, Interface Design, Content, Usability Engineering,
· Develop customer-centric strategies to drive revenues and reduce costs based upon new initiatives
· Employ a Customer-Centered Design approach, the latest technology/methodologies, and needs/benefit analysis to identify solutions to customer needs and wants. Develop and provide business cases for all new initiatives, including cost/benefit and ROI.
· Develop regular reporting to evaluate channel performance.
· Coordinate focus groups, usability labs, and other qualitative research in support of product development
· Proactively identify market based trends and regularly communicating opportunities to team. Develop and direct prioritization for all technology (including integrated systems) enhancements and bug fixes across all regions, brands, and stakeholders (such as business development, sales, brand teams, regions, global distribution systems, CRO’s, etc.). Direct the determination of ROI.
· Direct the creation of all business requirements via business documentation, functional specifications, and approval of technical flows and designs. .
· Direct and design innovative ideas and concepts from industry and competitive intelligence. Stay abreast of competitors and their technology as well as emerging trends in distribution. Direct benefits determination process.
· Plan, organize, control, and lead subordinate functions within established budgetary and manpower plans; establish goals, performance standards and operating procedures for assigned functions. Participate in creation of department staffing and capital budgets as required by senior management. Continuously evaluate and modify strategies, budgets, and plans as determined by business.Coach and develop team members; hire, fire, assess, discipline, document performance, recommend salary and classification changes. Act as an advisor to subordinate managers or staff to help meet established schedules and/or resolve technical or operational problems.
Experience
· 3+ years of experience managing a User Experience, Information Architecture, or Human Factors Engineering team
· Background in human factors, HCI, information architecture, user interface design, interaction design, industrial design or related area strongly preferred
· 3 to 4 years experience designing for environments that leverage XHTML, CSS,
· JavaScript.
· 5+ years experience working in either an Internet consulting company or an ebusiness/
· Web communications area of a large corporation
· 3 to 4 years formalized client requirements gathering experience
· A portfolio of existing applications or sitesExperience with diagramming software and one or more of the following applications and technologies is a plus: Adobe Photoshop, Visual SourceSafe, ASP, CGI, Java, JSP Visual Basic or PHP, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, Plumtree or other CMS.
Education
· Bachelor's degree or Master's degree, preferably in a related discipline
Competencies
· Experience in customer insights analysis, customer behavior modeling, and forecasting techniques.
· Understanding of emerging technologies related to shopping, user interface design, booking engine technology and the internet
· Proficiency in conceptualizing and translating business requirements into specific system functionality.
· Proficiency in directing the modeling, development, and implementation of holistic business solutions. Project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation.
· Experience in leading and developing people.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to senior leaders, peers, stakeholders, clients, vendors, and staff.
