Graphic Design Artist – Desktop Publisher

This position is located onsite at the FAA near the airport in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The graphic artist works with the multimedia production team to design and develop graphic/visual effects used in multimedia material.  This position requires the use of specialized computer software to develop high quality computer illustrations, technical drawings, and animations supporting various media used within the training curriculum. The graphic artist must be capable of using specialized hardware and/or software for video/audio capture and editing of multimedia presentations, incorporate principles of layout and design throughout the multimedia production process, and is responsible for quality control, review and revision of all aspects of graphics development.

 

Services include memoranda and letters, scripts, reports, various types of training materials and publications, conceptualizing computer graphics and creating designs with minimal instruction, incorporating graphics into documents utilizing desktop publishing concepts and methods, maintaining a graphics library of completed designs, inputting/modifying and exporting graphics, transferring/merging and adjusting designs as needed, and other graphic design services.

  

Overview: 

Provide a variety of graphics design services, including logos, artwork, slides, certificates, and posters.

Job Description:  Design exhibits, certificates, slides, film slides, graphics, and nameplates/tags in accordance with customer requirements Design artwork for exhibits and publications in accordance with customer requirements Produce paper (hard copies) artwork as requested Scan and save images to disk Dry mount customer-furnished items Store all work/items in accordance with defined processes Complete all assignments in accordance with defined processes and Management directives Capture, track, and report metrics in accordance with defined processes and Management directives Support all FAA and customer-defined directives and policies, including safety, quality, and security Identify and submit process improvements Perform other duties as assigned

 

Desired Skills Excellent communications skills – written and verbal Microsoft Office experience – including PowerPoint Experience with Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) graphics editing packages like Adobe, Corel, or PhotoShop Demonstrated experience designing and producing posters, collages, and logos 33MM slide creation experience Vu-graph creation experience Proficiency with scanners and printers



 

 Requirements:

 

 

Ø  A minimum of 3 years experience or formal education in graphic design and layout.

Ø  Knowledge of CMYK, RGB and PMS color printing, and resolution standards.

 

Ø  Outstanding communication skills and a cooperative attitude in a team environment. 

 

Ø  Knowledge of layout and design techniques, and typography styles

 

Ø  Ability to design charts and graphs.

 

Ø  Ability to visualize the abstract idea into the concrete images and graphic presentations.

 

 

Salary: $18 per hour. Paid vacations and holidays.
