Graphic Designer/Web developer

Benefits consulting and publishing firm requires a designer experienced in Quark, Adobe PDF professional, and MS Word. Alternatively, the company will consider a designer experienced in another major design application, such as Adobe Indesign. Applicants with experience only in consumer-based applications for home use—please do not apply.  This position requires professional experience or education.

 

Experience with web applications for creating email newsletters is an advantage.  Web-development experience is also an advantage in Adobe Dreamweaver/MS Expression and Adobe Flash.  

Depending on the qualifications of the job applicant, the duties can be part time (10-20 hours per week), part time (salaried basis on a fixed weekly schedule), or full time salaried.  

Work location can be a combination of onsite work at our office in Jasper, GA, as well as working from home.

 

Duties include:

·  Modifying existing full-color full bleed Quark publications (40-60 pages) that explain specific benefits offered by employers to their employee population.

·  Creating files and submitting them via FTP to our printer.

·  Reviewing printer PDFs for accuracy.

·  Communicating with clients regarding design and verbiage changes.

·  Creating PDF versions of publications for display.

·  Creating Zinio versions of publications for download by client. Go to http://www.zinio.com/express3?issue=245393054&o=ext for an example.

·  Creating marketing pieces for internal use.

·  Creating marketing pieces for up to 140 partner firms.  

·  Creating initial and ongoing proposals for distribution to our prospect clients.

·  Creating handouts that go to employees.

·  Creating paper and online, fillable PDF forms.

·  Creating and editing several bi-weekly email newsletters—for clients, prospective clients and sales partner firms.

·  Modifying our existing website and creating one additional website.

·  Creating websites for up to 140 partner firms.

 

The ideal applicant is expected to learn the basics of benefit plans offered by employers so that they can effectively communicate with internal staff and with prospective clients. The position is a single designer position within a small operation with 10 employees—no additional designers are on staff.  The position replaces an hourly contract position.

 

Applicants must be able to submit a portfolio of prior work. The position is also open to recent graduates with a degree in graphic design or web-development, without prior work experience, as long as the applicant can supply prototypes of artwork developed for their education or degree, or any freelance work.
