The Position: HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATOR - Reports to department head. This is an opening for a regular full-time position, but preferred candidates would be willing to temp prior to being considered for regular placement. General Description of Position:
Work hard but have some fun along the way. Must be VERY detail-oriented, trustworthy and have a sense of humor to work in this busy department. Assists director (dept. consists of 2.5 HR staff) along with other duties for which responsible. Job duties may change depending upon chosen candidate's strengths, but this is highly administrative. This junior/mid-level career position is not a member of management, but rather a professional H.R. person with a few years of experience. A strong point of contact for associates in day-to-day benefit and policy questions. Administrative duties (file management, bill payments, coordinate interview appointments, data entry, etc.) as well as work with associates to problem-solve and resolve minor issues. You'll never be bored (don't let the dry job description below keep you from sending in your resume)!
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 2 to 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a small to mid-size company in publishing, media, hi-tech or b2b related industry Bachelor’s degree in H. R. or business related major preferred Requires outstanding interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written) Professional ethics of a high standard are required HIGHLY accurate and detail-oriented individual with strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook ABRA HRIS & Crystal Reports abilities are a huge plus Experience in recruiting, benefits administration, and compliance-related issues strongly preferred Workers’ Compensation administration experience a plus General knowledge of COBRA, California labor laws and general leave administration highly desired Ability to interact and communicate professionally (including in writing) with all levels of the organization is a must Must be team player and flexible Ideal candidate is pro active, self-managing, thrives on change, is extremely dependable and is able to meet shifting deadlines in a very fast-paced environment Enthusiasm and energetic approach in this service-oriented department is a must PHR certification a plus! (good for you!) No relocation available
DUTIES - Full range H.R. duties including but not limited to:Perform general associate relations (everything you do makes an impression) Apply knowledge of company policies and relate them to situations as needed Administration of company health insurance & benefit programs (meetings, enrollment, audit bills, etc.) Coordination of temp placements and tracking of billing Coordinates virtually every interview held for recruitment Administrative support of general recruiting practices (data entry, tracking, records) Compile and issue various computer generated reports Departmental records retention, file set-up and maintenance (meticulous is good...no, required) Prepares and performs new hire orientations (large group and individual) Prepares termination packets & out-processes associates (including some, not all, exit interviews) Coordinate company events (not the party planner, though) Workers’ compensation claims documentation and record keeping COBRA record keeping, tracking, correspondence and compliance Leave record keeping, tracking, correspondence and compliance Maintains various databases (candidates, terminated associates, etc.) Willingness and ability to work front reception desk & switchboard as required (one or two hours per week) Assist the H.R.
