Job Description: Marketing Performance Manager / Expert A key goal of Steve Ballmer and Kevin Turner is to elevate the return on our investments internally. Nowhere in the marketing organization is this better done than at the US BMO. We have set in motion a host of best practices relating to how marketers plan their efforts, see in-market performance versus planning, and apply these lessons in their go-forward plans. We are looking for an individual who will help to break new ground, who has verve for solving problems and who likes to get things done in a manner that mobilizes people, guides them into practices that drive greater marketing efficacy and excellence.The position has the advantage of being located where Marketing connects with Sales, in the US BMO’s Central Marketing Group. Therefore you will see which aspects of marketing drive right thru to actually creating bottom line results, and why. Outcomes you’ll drive:Your work will enable marketers in several ways, including:· Provide visibility into the aspects of a campaign that are driving results to continuously improve the marketing ROI · Close the loop between governance and planning efforts· Clarify where they should invest their funds across campaigns and across marketing objectives · Deepen a results oriented mindset and marketing muscle critical for the company to succeed in an increasingly competitive environment · Connect Redmond and District or Area marketing teams so that our efforts are orchestrated across the US Sub Key responsibilities· Analyze and identify campaign specific results and implications· Determine the impact of such design aspects as targeting, offer, message, vehicle, etc. in collaboration with DBMS and Marketing Communications teams · Share out key lessons: More than just certifying that the data, show marketers how to “see” the lessons that are to be found in the in-market results · Spearhead governance: Create and own a stream of ROB reviews that would occur in both Redmond, and the Districts, including critical analysis and overall orchestration, which will help to drive decision making within the US Sub · Continuously improve analysis practices: Deconstruct existing reporting and analytical limitations in the US BMO, methodically identify underlying issues, and develop near and longer term solutions that take the form of enhancements to people, processes and tools · Address ad hoc analysis: Provide specialized, project-based analytics driven by the Marketing Operations team and CMP stakeholders related to topics such as: velocity; EAs; cost and ROI. Job Requirements:· Well versed in general at operationalizing data from disparate sources to support BI efforts, and automating these procedures, including SQL queries for retrieving dimensional and relational data· Fluent in use of MS Excel, particular its data related features to acquire, manipulate and use data for analysis.· Able to apply these skills against relatively new BI tools such as Performance Point, and 3rd party analysis tools· Excellent analysis and problem solving skills; able to draw out the story behind the data · Ability to proactively mobilize people into new practices and processes · More than just a great communicator, but an evangelist of the value of up-front planning, ongoing analysis and ensuing governance, who telegraphs credibility so that stakeholders will invest needed time and resources The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:· A strong analytical background, 5 + years in direct marketing, with a focus upon ROI and yield / loss· An MBA although not absolutely required but is a big plus.· MSFT internal organization familiarity, particularly with the US BMO and its key constituents, is tremendously relevant Microsoft offers an excellent benefits package to full-time employees including medical, dental, vacation, employee stock purchase plan, and 401k, plus some great extras including: our 24-hour nurse line, stay fit program, product discounts, and paid infant care leave.
