NAFTA DOWNSTREAM ACCOUNT MANAGER
Seminis Vegetable Seeds, a division of Monsanto and the world's largest developer, grower and marketer of fruit and vegetable seeds is seeking a NAFTA DOWNSTREAM ACCOUNT MANAGER at our Oxnard CA location. The NAFTA DAM will be responsible for the development and execution of a downstream pull-through demand strategy for products already commercialized and/or those in near-launch. The successful candidate's efforts will be focused on elements of the value chain beyond the grower, including shippers, packers, consolidators, and food service and retail produce buyers, as appropriate.
In this role the objective is to create incremental demand and foster productive relationships amongst new business partnerships. In order to be successful in this position the DAM will be a member of the NAFTA Commercial Organization and will be expected to establish and to deliver on yearly sales targets where initial the geographic focus will be the U.S. and Canada, but extension to Mexico-based opportunities may develop later.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with NAFTA Sales Teams. Demonstrate value to the Sales Organization via both increased seed sales and post-grower industry intelligence
- Become and remain familiar with and effectively communicate commercial product FABs
- Contribute to commercial team inventory management success by creatively developing incremental seed sales opportunities via downstream demand stimulation.
- Establish and maintain solid relationships with major value chain players responsible for making product purchase decisions
- Understand post-grower value chain drivers and unmet needs and match up with Seminis seed products available in order to create incremental sales opportunities.
- As member of the NAFTA Business Development team, contribute to a seamless key downstream customer/partner relationship environment regarding demand stimulation for current commercial products and interest in and future demand for next generation products (Downstream Value Creation products).
- Via effective information mining from value chain participants, communicate produce industry vision to the NAFTA Commercial Organization. A key competency required is the ability to effectively “link” business conditions and end-user trends, ensuring exploration of issues from diverse angles and then communicating the relevant information to the NAFTA Commercial Organization.
- Set yearly downstream pull-through sales targets and deliver on those targets.
The successful candidate will possess a B.S. or B.A. in agriculture, agronomy, marketing or a business discipline, including economics and 10+ years in account management, sales, or marketing in the seed, produce, or food industries. Demonstrated ability to profitably grow a commercial business, the ability to integrate a large number of data points into a logical scenario-building process and to develop and advocate recommended tactics are essential. Excellent customer service, communication and multitasking skills are required. Substantial travel is expected, approximately 50% of the time.
