POSITION SUMMARY:Scottrade is seeking an experienced public relations professional to manage Scottrade's online public relations efforts. This includes developing strategy and pitching to traditional media outlets, as well as communicating with non-traditional outlets, such as blogs and message boards. This also includes monitoring content on the Web and finding ways for Scottrade's online presence to extend beyond our online advertising.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitoring Scottrade's non-advertising presence on the Web (15%) Developing strategy based on those findings (15%) Pitching to online media and coordinating Scottrade's Blogger Relations efforts (25%) Liaison between Marketing and Product Development for Scottrade's Online Community (10%) Monitoring and developing Scottrade's social networking sites, such as Facebook (10%) Writing, editing and distributing online press releases, including search engine optimizing all of Scottrade's press releases (25%) Other duties and/or responsibilities as assignedRequired Skills Significant knowledge of online media, blogs, social networking sites, etc. Knowledge of AP style. Exemplary writing skills, including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the general public, peers or management. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Intermediate proficiency level with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be very detail-oriented, but also very fast-paced and have the ability to juggle multiple things at once. The PR department as a whole is often privy to financial or other information that is not widely available to all employees and we are expected to keep this information confidential.
