Print Production Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Print Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the timely print production of jobs for assigned client(s).  Provides vendor quotes, press schedules and ensures executions are to specifications and company quality standards.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:Supplier sourcing and procurementNegotiate pricing with print partners including annual contractsWork with creative team to solve creative production issues—is resourceful, assists, advises and offers suggestions to produce creative work effectivelyAbility to improvise when conventional solutions will not work in the time allottedGenerate purchase orders prior to expenditures and reconcile and approve vendor invoices against purchase ordersApprove blue-lines/lasers and color proofs.  Attend press checks when necessaryBuild vendor relationships, research and evaluate emerging technologies, and share that knowledge with the teamTake a leadership role in identifying opportunities for process improvement related to quality and efficiencySupervise internal staff to ensure flawless execution of print projectsLead and develop direct report(s) in production processes, company procedures and other special projects.  Oversee their responsibilities, review their opportunity areas, define their career paths and ensure timely appraisals on their behalf

 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:Solid understanding of all cross-functional processes related to print productionMust have extensive knowledge of all types of print processes and industry terminology, specifically direct mailMust have strong project management skills, attention to detail to meet deadlines, ability to coordinate multiple, complex functions and activities concurrently in a fast paced environmentExperience dealing with specialty and fulfillment vendors

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or advertising preferred

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 7 years print production experiencePre-press and cross platform printing techniques knowledge requiredDirect mail depth of experience required Specialty and point of purchase knowledge desirableKnowledge of overall agency structure and trafficking processes important

 

COMPUTER SKILLS:PC proficient; Excel skills required at an intermediate level, experience with Word and PowerPoint preferred
