Product Development and Sourcing Specialist

Stanley Home Products, a division of The Fuller Brush Company, Inc. is a respected direct-selling company with well-recognized products for use in both the home and personal care.  We currently have an immediate need for a Product Development and Sourcing Specialist for our home-care line.  This position is located in our Leicester, NY location.

 

The successful candidate will be able to plan, organize and control the home-care product line from conceptual stage through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial and company growth objectives. 



 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

 Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends for home-care products in the direct-selling industry Works with Senior Management to develop one (1) and three (3) year new product introduction plan to include outsourced and manufactured products at agreed upon gross margins Works with SHP VP Marketing and Promotions to manage inventory Assess the supply market and develops a sourcing strategy for home-care products and personal care products as assigned Identifies suitable suppliers for low-cost / high quality home care and personal care products as needed Provides financial analysis to Senior Management on all cost associated with product sourcing and new product launch Assists SHP Management and Fuller purchasing in negotiating products and prices with  suppliers Regularly perform pricing and competitive analysis by customer channel and recommend strategies to improve market position, improve quality or reduce costs. Continuously manages product life cycle Produce, maintain and update annual forecast Works with marketing to develop and maintain product database with product specifications, artwork/photography,  and catalog copy for promotional use Establish and maintain relationships with vendors to help facilitate the timely completion of projects Interfaces with others in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions. Communicates with management, any problems with the implementation or available resources that may affect the schedule or budget Responsible for communicating all product information and product changes both internally and externally Represent SHP at all Fuller Brands product development meetings  Suggests methods and procedures for monitoring sourcing projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to keep management informed of current status of each project. Presents new products to the field as needed Approximately 30-40% travel required

 

Education/Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, and/or Purchasing required. Four to ten years related product sourcing experience preferably for the direct-selling industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software; Development software; Design software; Project Management software and Database software.
