DescriptionOur CPG Strategic Account Development team is currently seeking a seasoned sales associate to fill the Strategic Sales Executive role. We are excited to open up this opportunity to individuals with CPG/ account development experience, sales leadership and client facing experience. We are very flexible on the location and welcome internal and external candidates from the Midwest. We ideally would like this individual to work out of Minneapolis, Chicago, or Detroit. Position Description:Know and meet all individual, team, customer, division and company-wide sales goalsAssist in growing total revenue in all accountsKnow and position the Valassis Vision in the marketplaceCreate demand for all Valassis Products, Services & Solutions in both existing and new customersDevelop and execute an Annual Customer/Account Plan to assist in achieving all sales goals and satisfying customer objectivesIdentify and secure incremental revenue opportunities to include:-Ancillary product opportunitiesKnow how Customers' consumer marketing, advertising and trade/sales dollars are being spent to include:-Competing for and securing every order or reporting it as competitive activity-Creating cross-selling and up-selling opportunities-Embrace the sales process consistent with customers profile-Possess the necessary competence level with all Valassis products, services and solutionsExhibit strong skills in: Lead generation, qualification, conceptual selling, presentation delivery and negotiationBe able to obtain and understand Customers' marketing and advertising requirements & objectivesUnderstand and appropriately utilize all company resources and sales toolsCommit to personal growth and ongoing sales skill trainingActively participate on and with Customer Business Teams and Customer Business Reach, influence and persuade key decision-makersMake sales calls for the purpose of:- Identifying and capturing all revenue opportunities- Expanding knowledge base of customer business/objectives & requirements- Building meaningful value-added relationships- Selling the value of Valassis products, services and solutions-Work toward establishing a partnership (as defined by VCI pyramid)Have a broad penetration base among key customer constituencies:-Marketing, Advertising, Trade, Agencies and other appropriate disciplines as necessary Establish/maintain working relationships with all internal personnelManage customer information/intelligence in accordance with company policyProvide accurate forecastsComply with all pricing and profit guidelinesRequired ExperienceAll applicants must have 1 -3 years of direct selling and account management experience, and would ideally have 5 – 8 years experience. An ideal candidate would have experience selling integrated marketing solutions to preferably a Consumer Packaged Goods company.Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Contact Management systems; Microsoft PowerPoint Design software; Microsoft Internet Explorer Internet software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
