Description:ResponsibilitiesGeneral Statement of Duties:Lead portion of the financial and operational closing, prepare journal entries, financial forecasts, budgets, variance analysis of balance sheets and income statements, summary financial reports, profitability analysis, capital investments and ad hoc financial analysis. Candidate will utilize their good analytical skills to work with management to gather, research and analyze accounting and financial information for capital investment justification, cost saving opportunities and the streamlining of processes.Supervision Received:Works independently under direction of Accounting Manager. Complete appropriate analysis that provides Retail operations with timely financial information, and which accurately measures financial results, assesses risk, and enhances decision making for accruals, budgets and forecasts. Maintain and perform accounting responsibilities for month end close including journal entries, and financial budgets and forecasts. Develop and maintain appropriate financial reporting and variance analysis of balance sheet and income statement data, summary financial reports, and ad hoc financial analysis. Help prepare documentation required to support the implementation and maintenance of the analysis. Utilize strong analytical skills to compile data, research and analyze accounting and financial information, and prepare cost accounting analysis for capital investment justification, cost saving opportunities, and streamlining and standardizing of business, financial, accounting and operating processes. Recommend changes which will increase revenues or decrease costs. Examine and review accounting practices that are not consistent with Retail operations. Recommends improvements to and document accounting, financial and operating policies, procedures, and processes that clearly identify issues and results and which improve standardization, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness and which strengthen internal controls.Coordinate the development, preparation and consolidation of budget, forecasts, and variance analyses. Work with department management and assists in preparing budgets and forecasts for revenue, and department payroll costs and operating expenses. Develop methodologies which better predict financial and operational results. Budgeting, forecasting and cost accountingGood knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and standards (FASB, AICPA and SEC.) Independently develops PC financial analyses models (Excel).Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Strong oral and written communication skills across all levels. Identify and resolve problems. Research, summarize, evaluate, and interpret data. Develop creative and concise analysis with minimal direction that identifies issues, assists in finding solutions to issues, etc. Develop conclusions founded on reason, logic and interpretation. Work with a variety of individuals across various functional areas. Aptitude for attention to detail and accuracy. Work independently. Determine priorities and meet critical deadlines. Manage time effectively. Function productively under stress and meeting very tight deadlines.Minimum Qualifications:Education:Bachelors degree in Accounting.Experience:5 - 8 years of general ledger, and accounts payable experience. Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cost accounting.Excellent PC skills (Excel)Project management experience.Desirable:Certified Public Accountant or Certified Managerial Accountant. Sarbanes-Oxley Reviews and Compliance.Accounting supervisory or management.Experience with PeopleSoft Financials.Experience with creating Access databases and Visual Basic, SQL. Experience with the following reporting tools: nVision, Query, Crystal Reports, Monarch.Works with and coordinates examination and auditors with independent External Audit and Internal Audit staff.Worked in a bank regulated or insurance environment. Understand Federal banking, insurance and compliance regulations.
