Senior Media Planner
The Senior Media Planner is the day-to-day focal point to the account. It is the Senior Media Planner who has the primary day-to-day responsibility for assigned accounts and is expected to be unquestionably familiar with all account details as they pertain to media. Media Planners are progenitors and stewards of the entire planning process and they provide input to the strategic direction with the senior team in order to create the best plans possible. The person who holds this position is expected to have a firm grasp of assigned accounts.
Responsibilities:
Aids in the creation of client media objectives and strategies Determines placements for ads Develops buying strategies for maximizing media dollars, and handles media negotiations Authors documents relating to the plan (must be able to create media focus form and RFP from client input) Creates media plan flowcharts and media buy authorizations Maintains media budgets or media spend summaries Works with management team (Supervisor, AMD, Media Director) to develop strategies for media plans Negotiates partnership contracts with sites as needed Writes POVs Analyzes audit statements and syndicated research at a sophisticated level Works closely with client throughout entire program to maintain performance and resolve any performance issues Provides creative analysis Understands intricacies of various tracking services Works with Assistant Planner and/or Data Analyst to analyze tracking results and write detailed summaries of end of campaign results Fields incoming proposals / phone calls for various clients Maintains relationship with sites including new opportunities and creative issues Researches Internet for potential sites Keeps client abreast of new opportunities or issues Begins building management skills Assist in training of AP Assist in creation of Media Plan presentations Provide research support during development of Objectives & Strategies and plans (@Plan, Media Metrix, Nielsen-NetRatings, AdRelevance) Help develop media plans specifically investigating sites, special opportunities and positions Assist DA in writing post analyses Share new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department Strategizes ways to most effectively use Internet and other interactive media dollars to the greatest benefit for our clients. Keeps up with and advises clients on the latest trends in interactive media. Looks for new opportunities. Helps clients integrate interactive media into their advertising and marketing programs. Qualifications:
3-5 years of media planning/buying experience. At least two years of online media planning/buying, including experience in all aspects of the process. Good writing and presentation skills Strong negotiating skills Knowledge of interactive media Detail-oriented with strong attention to follow-through Experience using DoubleClick Dart and AtlasDMT adserving technologies Experience with online research tools such as Nielsen, @Plan, AdRelevance, etc. Familiarity with offline media concepts
