Senior Plant Technician

Seeking a "Senior Plant Technician" to work at our Bowling Green (Payne Creek), FL facility.

The successful individual will plan, coordinate, supervise and participates in all activities on-site in order to meet system electrical load demands and maintain plant capacity at its highest attainable level while maintaining the high safety and environmental standards that insure safe environmentally conscious operations.

 

Essential Functions:

 

1. Directly supervises Plant Technicians insuring procedures are understood and are being followed to support safe, effective and efficient plant operation and maintenance.

 

2. Responsible for determining required employee training and implementing programs to ensure completion of those requirements.

 

3. Coordinates activities daily and oversees work of Seminole and contractor personnel to insure compliance with Seminole requirements.  Responsible for all site activities after normal working hours and on weekends.

 

4. Develops system operational procedures and guidelines.  Responsible for the operation of all equipment in the plant to insure safe and environmentally compliant performance of all systems.

 

5. Coordinates and participates in daily plant activities with other Senior Plant Technicians.

 

6. Prepares daily and weekly work schedules, monitors employee activities to insure compliance with the determined schedules, and modifies activities to overcome obstacles encountered by employees.

 

 



Requirements:



Education

A high school diploma or equivalent.  Engineering or related degree or equivalent training is desirable.

Experience

Requires ten years of combined experience in a maintenance craft and in operations of combustion and steam turbines.  Minimum of three years experience in plant operation and one maintenance craft is required.

Requires the knowledge, skills and ability to lead a high performance multi-skilled team in the operation and maintenance of a combine-cycle power generation plant.  Requires excellent technical and people skills to provide direction for a group of multi-craft skilled employees.  Requires strong written and oral communications skills.  Prior supervisory experience is desirable. 

Working

Conditions

Required to work in all areas of the plant site, both indoors and outdoors.  Rotating shift work required.  Some travel required.  Work in confined spaces and at heights greater than 200 ft required.  Work with high temperature, high pressure steam and water systems as well as high pressure air and fluids is required.  Work with chemicals is required.
