Senior Systems Administrator

Provides second level support to all employees in the company both on-site and remotely. Either properly resolves any/all Help Desk tickets that are generated or escalate the problem to the next level of support. Performs special projects as they are assigned. Creates software images and loads software on company computers. Documents procedures for policies, procedures, or tasks. Supports an office, communicates with executive management, and advances IT values.

 

II. Responsibilities

·  Successfully troubleshoots and resolves Help Desk tickets as they are logged into the database by any appropriate means: phone support, in person, or remotely

·  Re-images, configures, personalizes, tests, and deploys computer equipment to employees

·  Maintains accurate inventory of deployed equipment and/or area of responsibility

·  Works on special projects as assigned by management

·  When necessary, recognizes the need to escalate a problem to the next level of support or management, but retains ownership of the problem to ensure proper resolution

·  Travels to remote site or other office locations if required

·  Maintains open communication with supervisor, keeping him/her aware of potential issues, daily tasks, and status of projects

·  Mentors and trains System Administrators

·  Serves as backup to the supervisor when he/she is not available

 III.  Performance Standards

·  Communicates professionally and effectively with all individuals whom IT supports

·  Acts as a project leader, coordinates, and communicates the status of the project to the rest of the IT team

·  Demonstrates a certain degree of creativity and latitude

·  Investigates and researches new technology solutions and makes recommendations for technology improvements

·  Multitasks, prioritizes, and completes his/her daily duties and special projects

·  Operates with independent thought and creativity under limited supervision

·  Acts as a team player





IV.  Requirements

 

·  3-5 years of professional computer troubleshooting experience

·  Computer/Technology degree is preferred (NOT required)

·  Technology certifications are a plus (NOT required)

 

Computer programs

Skills that are required:

·  Windows 2000 Pro

·  Windows XP Pro

·  Basic Mac OS knowledge

·  Microsoft Office

·  Symantec PCAnywhere

·  Symantec Ghost

·  Symantec Antivirus

·  Adobe Acrobat

·  Strong organizational skills

·  Computer hardware knowledge

 

Additional skills that are an added bonus:

·  Lotus Notes

·  Active Directory account management

·  DNS/DHCP/WINS/FTP/SMTP/Telnet/FTP/IIS

·  Printing hardware knowledge
