Senior Vice President, Public Affairs

TITLE:  Senior Vice President
DEPARTMENT:  Public Affairs 

 

Porter Novelli, a global public relations company, has an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Vice President to join the Washington, DC office’s Public Affairs team.   

 

Responsibilities

·  Develop strong client relationships; drives strategic direction of a client’s business

·  Provides overall strategic direction and counsel to clients beyond core program implementation

·  Direct business and client relationships at strategic levels

·  Ensures team delivers superior client service

·  Build solid account management teams

·  Successfully manage complex assignments

·  Manages revenue and profit growth of group and contributes to overall financial success of the office

·  Ensure fiscal responsibility for both client budgets and their immediate operating group

·  Manage accounts profitably

·  Develops, mentors and coaches staff towards optimal performance

·  Ensures overall integration between immediate account team and other operating divisions and departments, both locally and companywide

·  Grow new business both organically and via new business

·  Manage all human resource responsibilities for the team

·  Participate in agency management

·  Generates external visibility for self and agency

 

 

Qualifications

·  Minimum 7-9 years experience in a public relations agency with relevant experience

·  Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams

·  Able to prioritize work for multi-level teams and manage complex, multiple assignments successfully

·  Persistent in seeking information needed for quality communications from clients, peers and the marketplace

·  Experience with generating new business leads, pitching, growing business organically

·  Experience with government relations

·  Demonstrated success in effective internal communications and ability to successfully communicate up and down with all units within the organization

·  Demonstrated strong client relationships

·  Bachelor’s degree in public relations, business, communications or related field required; advanced degree preferred
