Software/Operations Engineer
SOFTWARE/OPERATIONS ENGINEER
iContact is a quickly growing RTP-based software company, which is seeking a Software/Operations Engineer to help guide the features and development of our web-based application and will work as part of our multi-disciplinary Operations team. The team is responsible for managing the day to day operations of our application and is made up of Operations Engineers and Operations Analysts. The role will report to the Manager, Operations.
The Job:
You will have significant responsibility from the start and will be required to interface with both the internal and external customers to support our application. The successful candidate will have the ability to contribute and be a leader in the following areas:
Assist support team and sales team with technical issues.Provide support to clients whose issues cannot be resolved by support representatives.Interface with Development teams to insure quality, consistency, scalability, and maintainability.Make changes to the application as needed.Prioritize change requests and consult with development team about repercussions.Test reported problems to determine what is causing the issue and under what conditions it occurs.Build tools to support internal operations such as metric tracking, analysis, and development projects.WHAT WE WANT:
The ideal candidate will possess the following: prior experience with working on web-based applications; strong team and individual work skills; previous experience with applications using SQL to store/retrieve data from a DBMS; experience finding and fixing bugs; excellent prioritization, analytical, and written and oral communication skills; Computer Science (or related) degree.
Additional desired skills: PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, unit testing, test-driven development, design patterns, database indexing, joining, and optimization, Linux development platform/environment, Subversion.
