Vice President, Public Affairs/Government Relations

The DC office of GolinHarris is looking for a Vice President to lead and drive communications efforts for our integrated public affairs/government relations practice.

The Vice President is responsible for managing the client relationships and leading large public affairs accounts. This includes serving as a chief strategist to clients and recommending programs and activities that coordinate with client's goals and budgets.

The Vice President is accountable for delivering contracted work on time and within budget, supervising account teams, producing high-quality work and excellent results, while ensuring team members produce the same.

The Vice President is also responsible for soliciting, developing and securing new business.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have at least 8+ years experience both on Capitol Hill and in public affairs either in-house (at a nonprofit or corporation) or at a national communications agency.

It is essential that candidate have a client service mind-set, have exceptional project management skills including managing teams in tactical implementation and budget development and oversight. An ability to think strategically and to connect consumer, corporate or non profit brands to the world of Washington influencers and thought leaders is required.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and managing successful public affairs programs, experience in third-party relationship building, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong experience generating new business. A history of successful media relations and writing is necessary.
