For 10 years American Marketing & Publishing has been quietly building a story of success for its advertisers and its employees. This year, our plan to grow our business by 35% requires us to expand our outside sales force. Our sales people receive extensive paid training, protected areas and are backed by an employer that delivers results for the businesses who advertise with us.

We are the publisher of the HomePages® Directories, an attractive, sensible and proven advertising medium.  We publish in four states (IL, IN, OH and WI) with headquarters in DeKalb, IL and 7 regional offices.

In 2007, over 40,000 small businesses advertised in our community-oriented home town phone books. As our sales representative, you will be responsible for selling local advertisers on the value of our product, an attractive alternative to expensive and poorly targeted regional telephone directories.

Candidate Profile

Each of our 40,000 customers receives an in-person courtesy call to renew their participation in our directories. Additionally, new business must be identified and closed. Our sales people must be smart, ambitious and able to see a project through to its successful completion. In person prospecting, and the ability to stay focused on a goal is critical to succeeding in this position. Our successful employees share a number of common sales traits, including an ability to stay organized, a willingness to work hard and a high level of interpersonal skill.

Job Description

It is the work of our sales personnel to deliver completed directories on a time specific deadline. In many cases our sales personnel are staffed on a project on their own so an ability to stay motivated and work independently is critical to our associate’s success.
