Writer, External Affairs and Corporate Communications

Position Summary: The Executive Speechwriter is responsible for researching and writing speeches,  presentations and whitepapers for Switch and Data executives.  The position requires strong research, analytical, writing and PowerPoint skills.  The will work closely with the Executive team under the direction of the VP Marketing Communications.  This position offers the right candidate a view into executive level strategic thinking.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Writing

§ Investor earnings call scripts and presentations

§ Employee Town Hall speeches, letters and presentations

§ Industry conference speeches and presentations

§ Work with executives to create company thought leadership whitepapers

 

Research and Analysis

§ Benchmark industry and competitors using sources including company SEC filings and analyst reports

§ Develop familiarity with high-technology industry trends and events

§ Research and develop company thought leadership in industry

 

Presentation Writing

§ Work with executives and outside agency to develop compelling PowerPoint presentations

§ Create investor, employee and industry presentations

 

Required Skills:

· BA/BS required.  Journalism and/or marketing background preferred

· 1 – 3 years experience

· Strong “business/journalism-style” writing skills mandatory

· Poise and confidence to interact at C-Level required

· Research and analytical skills required

· High technology industry knowledge and experience strongly preferred

· Investor relations experience a plus

· Proficient skills in MSWord, PowerPoint, and Excel required

· Enjoys fast paced, changing environment
