2nd shift lead machinist

The Group Leader will be responsible for achieving quality and production objectives, ensuring compliance with GMP’s and ISO; promoting Total Quality Management; emphasizing an environment which fosters teamwork and innovation performance management; administration of company policies and procedures; and safety and good housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CNC Group: • Supervisory duties and responsibilities include: a) Responsible for performance management and development of direct reports including written performance appraisals; b) Administers company policies and procedures in the CNC Group, c) Ensures compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP and ISO), safety policies, and good housekeeping; d) Responsible for initial training of new employees and on-going training of subordinates to ensure quality of work, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP and ISO), and other regulatory compliance; and e) Promotes Total Quality Management/. and emphasizes an environment to foster teamwork. • Promotes employee safety. • Assists with maintaining adequate staff support for production requirements in the CNC Group. • Helps to ensure production plans are accomplished. • Manages on-going cost reduction and continuous improvement programs to the manufacturing process. • Handles disciplinary needs, attendance and individual employee matters of direct report personnel. • Maximizes all resources with respect to space, parts, machinery, and people. • Ensures products conform to quality standards by taking the following actions: • Initiates corrective action to prevent product non conformance. • Identifies and records product quality problems. • Initiates and recommends solutions. • Verifies solutions. • Controls further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until correction of the deficiency. • Participates in committees and teams, as necessary. • General: • Acts as the Superintendent/Manager Fabrication in the absence of the Superintendent/Manager Fabrication • Performs other duties and responsibilities, as required. • Provides and maintains effective training, direction and support to Assemblers, Production Leads, and personnel. • Interacts with RA/QA on issues related to product quality and Good Manufacturing Practices. • Interacts with Materials/Purchasing to ensure departmental supply and equipment needs are met. • Interacts closely with Operations Engineering on product changes, improvements, and new product introductions. • Interacts closely with Customer service and Production Planning to ensure adherence to production schedules and customer demand. • Interacts with Human Resources on company policy and procedures. • Interacts closely with Superintendent/Manager, Fabrication to ensure overall goals of the department are met. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to interface with production and supervisory personnel. • Ability to work in a Total Quality Management/Continuous Improvement environment. • Ability to program CNC /NC machines • Knowledgeable in the following areas: • Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) paperwork, Bills of Materials (BOM’s), Pick Lists, Routers and Manufacturing Instructions. • Labor tracking/Materials tracking • Food and Drug Administration (FDA), ISO Standards, GMP and MSDS. • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred. • Three (3) years supervisory experience in labor intensive manufacturing work environment, preferably in the medical products field. • Technical background in Project Management, APICS, cost accounting etc. desired. • Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently. • Ability to move from department and buildings to interact with others. • Position requires occasional domestic/international travel.
