ASTOR Program-Chief Engineer (E07)
The ASTOR Program - Chief Engineer (PCE) will act independently, restricted by very broad policies and objectives, works with minimal directions. -The Chief Engineer will makes final decisions on technical or operational issues affecting the ASTOR program and ASTOR follow on programs. -In addition, the Chief Engineer will be accountable for the results of effectiveness in the ASTOR program areas . - The ASTOR Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall technical leadership and engineering execution of the ASTOR Program within Mission System Integration (MSI). The ASTOR Chief Engineer reports to the MSI Business Area Chief Engineer (BACE), and is assigned to the Program Area VP for day-to-day activities, and coordinates with the program Chief Engineers and engineering functional leadership to achieve these responsibilities. The ASTOR Program - Chief Engineer: 1. Provides Program Area engineering direction to all decisions impacting product integrity and mission assurance. 2. Ensures proactive engineering support for other Program Area functions (Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Performance Excellence, Quality, etc.) 3. Is responsible for the technical, cost and schedule performance of all engineering activities. 4. Charters and approves program independent assessments and Gate reviews. 5. Approves Engineering process tailoring, cost estimates and EAC’s. 6. Contributes to product and technology roadmaps and leads technical development of ASTOR follow on activities. 7. Works with the Program Area leadership team to resolve conflicts escalated within the programs. 8. Provides performance and compensation recommendations for the engineers assigned to Program Area. 9. Will act independently and with minimal supervision and be help accountable for all program results. Basic Qualifications/Required Skills: - Technical leadership experience with engineers and scientists - 15-20 years engineering experience - Ability to provide immediate technical insight Knowledge of aircraft systems is required Desired Skills: - Knowledge, experience, and leadership across the range of ISR programs for hardware, software, installation, flight test support, radar technology, communications systems architecture EMI/EMC mitigation, and airborne software development Current Secret required, higher clearances desired.
