Actuation System Engineer - PSIC Nacelle

We have an immediate opening for a Nacelle Thrust Reverser Actuation System (TRAS) Engineer with expertise in the development and application of actuation systems to support P&W's Next Generation Product Family (NGPF) of Geared Turbofan commercial engines.

The candidate needs a working knowledge of electrical circuits, actuation systems, and hydraulics, as he/she will be responsible for technical aspects of the electromechanical devices used to interface electronic controls with mechanical systems of the TRAS.

The candidate will work closely with Pratt & Whitney's Controls Group and the Nacelle Supplier to identify the best solution for the TRAS integrated with the engine and nacelle into the aircraft propulsion system.

The TRAS Engineer will identify and resolve issues with functional, electrical or mechanical interfaces, define system/component requirements documents, and ensure compliance with contractual, validation and certification requirements.

The candidate must be a motivated, detailed oriented individual who will oversee and coordinate the design, development/rig testing, and certification of the nacelle thrust reverser actuation system.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Aeronautical Engineering.


The successful candidate will have 3-7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Nacelles/Thrust Reversers/Actuation Systems hardware
- External Engine & Aircraft Components Design
- System/Component Verification/Validation/Certification
- Experience with engine (FAR 33) and aircraft (FAR 25) certification regulations.

Travel (10-20%) to airframe and supplier is required.
The successful candidate will demonstrate good communication and organization skills, as the work requires close coordination with PW, the aircraft supplier, and the nacelle supplier.
