Join the Operations team at the PWR Canoga Park campus as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic. Responsibilities include performing activities in support of facilities maintenance programs on air conditioning and refrigeration systems, units and equipment. This involves the following:
- read and interpret drawings, manuals, blueprints, sketches, and job orders;
- adhere to shop practices to service, maintain, troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and overhaul air conditioning and refrigeration systems units, and related equipment;
- perform routine, periodic or special inspection of equipment;
- provide manufacturing, office and laboratory areas with conditioned air to control filtration, temperature, humidity and static pressure;
- provide comprehensive and efficient service, maintenance diagnostics and repair/adjustments of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration units, equipment, systems and controls, including water treatment equipment and related chemicals and biocides;
- check and calibrate thermostats;
- read gauges, indicators, calipers and other precision instruments;
- use shop tools, hand tools, portable power tools and equipment to make adjustments, repairs and modifications to such items as compressors, air intake, exhaust and recirculation equipment, dampers, water flow lines, controls and values;
- repair, replace, fit and install any internal mechanical part;
- charge systems with refrigerant and test system for leaks and proper operation;
- diagnose malfunctions and repair humidity and low temperature chambers; and
- operate, maintain and repair low-pressure boilers.



A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Universal Certification to legally work on Freon Systems is required. Technical training and/or certification is welcomed.



A Universal Certification to work on Freon Systems is required as well as extensive experience on Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and Heating systems. Candidate must exercise judgment in ascertaining causes of failures and applying knowledge in methods of solving complex technical problems. Candidate must be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently with little supervision. Candidate must thrive in a continuous improvement process environment.



Candidates must satisfactorily complete pre-employment requirements such as a background check, drug screen, and meet the physical requirements of this position. The Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanics are represented by the UAW, Local 887 and have a current bargaining agreement. No relocation assistance is available.
