Application Engineer

Provide engineering analysis and development to implement a Health Maintenance System on a major radar system. Apply VSE’s Prognostics Framework tools and methodology to develop subsystem and equipment models that will use system self test and sensor data to monitor the system data to predict impending failures, detect and isolate failures. Perform engineering analysis to derive best means of predicting equipment-specific failures and maintenance interval requirements. Candidate will work within an engineering team and will have responsibility for modeling and diagnostics/prognostics development for one of the primary subsystems. The candidate is also expected to develop and apply physics and statistics based anomaly and fault detection, and probabilistic reasoning and degradation prediction. Interface with engineering team and customer. Will require travel as required, estimated at one to two weeks per month during peak integration efforts. 

 

Qualifications Required:

B.S. in engineering. 5 plus years experience in reliability centered maintenance, test, diagnostics and prognostics a definite plus.  The candidate is expected to have experience in the fields of application of signal processing for diagnostics and prognostics, system development and test. Candidate is expected to have a strong mathematical background. 

 

Candidate must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

Knowledge and experience in managing, developing, and performing systems analysis, systems integration and engineering, and circuit design commensurate with experience is a plus.

 

Successful candidate should have professional working experience in a commercial/government business environment. 

 

Possess the ability to plan and organize effectively, be a self-starter who can work independently and make effective decisions. Effectively communicates in English, orally and in writing.
