Assembly Electrician Position Description This position will require the individual to pass a three hour-forty minute basic skills assessment and 80 hours of unpaid pre-employment training. This requisition will staff the 21203 Assembler Wire Group B and 30104 Assembler Inst Elec Syst B jobs in Renton and Everett. Use production illustrations, specifications, shop aids, blueprints and other information to fabricate / assemble wire bundles and install electrical systems equipment and assemblies. Utilize visual controls and mfg. load control processes to plan and sequence work. Locate points, parts, holes and wire bundles from station lines or index points. Locate work area using drawings which specify airplane and section number and three-point location. Set up, adjust and operate numerical or computer controlled machines. Select proper wire, load, adjust and machine feed the marking and cutting mechanisms to control machine operations. Employment in this position also requires color perception, occasional (1-3 hours) of finger manipulation, flexion/tension, handling and lifting less than 10 pounds, reaching, rotation of head and neck, climbing, balancing, sitting and standing, as well as 0-1 hour of heavier lifting (up to 35 lbs.), including bending and twisting at the waist and the use of personal safety equipment. Operate mechanical lifts. Set up assembly tools per tooling instruction. Group and identify wire runs per drawing. Set up job per work instruction. Ensure that parts issued / acquired are correct and free of defects. Attach appropriate fittings to wire ends. Hook-up and / or connect wiring to accessories. Fabricate wire bundles by cutting, coding, counting, sleeving and splicing wire. Install connectors, lugs, solder sleeves, ferrules and contacts. Crimp and terminate using hand or machine crimping tool; tie with lock stitch or panduit straps. Install wire bundle into electrical panel or shelf by routing, clamping, terminating and tying. Perform continuity tests of electrical assemblies using ohmmeter, test lights and other electrical testing equipment. Determine and obtain correct type and size fasteners per drawing and / or rivet or grip gauge to install parts / assemblies (e.g. standoffs, wire bundles, clamps). Install fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools (e.g. rivet gun and bucking bar, drill motor, power screwdriver, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner). Install accessories (relays, circuit breakers, switches and lights) and decals onto shelves and panels as required, using hand tools and soldering gun. Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner. Check work upon completion of each operation and ensure it is complete per drawing. Knowledge of safe working practices and emergency procedures. Competencies Math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions). Read/interpret production illustrations/drawings, wiring diagrams & schematics. Capable of visualizing a three-dimensional shape from a two-dimensional view; understand symbols & flag/general notes. Understand technical documents. Operate computing equipment. Use various types of hand and/or hand-held power tools. Use various jigs & fixtures to orient parts into pre-defined positions. Organize work. Work well as part of a team. Follow all instructions provided by superiors. Knowledge of routing, clamping, tying, connecting & terminating wires and/or wire bundles in electrical systems/assemblies. Use of various types of precision measuring tools. Mech. ability, manual dexterity & hand-eye coordination required to build various assemblies. Color perception required. Drill, ream, hone and/or countersink straight and close tolerance holes. Education and/or Experience High school graduate or GED preferred.
