Assistant Manager QM

Responsibilities:Project PlanningWork with QM Manager, Product Marketing, and Applications Development teams to identify test strategies and approaches for proposed development projects.Assist with identification of risks and prioritization of testing efforts appropriate to levels of project risk. Work with QM Manager to help identify QM roles and skills needed for a project. Estimate work required for test planning and test execution. Develop project schedules based on estimates and assigned resources.Test Planning and ExecutionAssume day-to-day supervision and responsibility for managing QM project teams. Assign test case planning and execution tasks to QM team members. Monitor progress of QM activities and deliverables. Report test planning progress, test execution progress, and test results to the QM manager, project manager, and other stakeholders.Work with Product Marketing and Applications Development staffs to identify and manage project risks and issues related to QM. Document and escalate issues as needed to QM manager for resolution.Assist QM manager in designing and documenting improvements in QM processes and procedures.

Requirements:Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience6+ years experience with software testing and quality management for custom development of small, medium, and large software applications, including some experience with iterative development projects. Experience must include development of test cases from requirements, as well as hands-on test execution. Travel industry experience a plus. Supervisory or Project Management experiences a plusAnalytical; strong attention to detail; promotes change with enthusiasm; demonstrates initiative; strong ability to multi-taskExcellent written and verbal communications and organizational skills.Exhibits leadership capabilities.Can Work independently and as part of a teamKnowledge of software testing and quality assurance principals and methods. Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Mercury Quality Center or Test Director.  Familiarity with Project Management methodologies and tools, and Iterative Development projects.

Desirable:

Familiarity with Use Cases, object-oriented development methods a plus.  Some knowledge of Cobol, Java, Relational or Hierarchical databases, SQL, and JCL is desirable. PM Certification is desirable
