Summary
Coordinates, manages, oversees and ensures activities related to the success of the avionics engineering group. Facilitates interdepartmental cohesiveness between and including avionics engineering, certification and supply chain; overseeing the activities of other companies, vendors and individuals by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEffectively lead and manage a team of up to 20 Avionics Engineers and direct them to design aircraft electrical systems and installations and generate substantiation documents that will be acceptable to the FAA.Will be expected to coach, train and mentor the team in order to ensure all are working efficiently, and to the best of their abilities; making sure engineering standards are achievedMust be able to communicate clearly with the engineering team, other GTI departments and vendors as required to facilitate smooth production and substantiation of GTI electrical designs.Responsible for preparing meeting materials and presenting electrical/avionics status updates, including the status of drawings and substantiation documents, as required to keep all parties informed of progress, gain team consensus and ensure progress is made, overseeing the avionics/electrical package to completion.Responsible for planning and overseeing the avionics/electrical drawing and substantiation packagesWill prepare staffing plans, anticipate critical path issues and set a schedule to meet program schedules and budgets. May use computer-assisted engineering, design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering and a minimum of 15 years industry experience including experience in aircraft avionics design, installation, integration and certification; or a Master's degree (M.S.) or equivalent; and 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Thorough knowledge of electrical drawing development and substantiation methods
· Must have detailed knowledge of FAA requirements for substantiation of aircraft electrical systems, and a working knowledge of the joint airworthiness requirements
· Must be able to set the quality standard for the GTI Avionics department and put standards and check processes in place
· Must possess a clear understanding of how to manage multiple priorities and competing tasks while making decisions as to priority of tasks and assignment of team members.
· Must possess the ability to work constructively with other departments within Greenpoint Technologies to gain consensus on the best plan of attack on each engineering issue requiring avionics/electrical input.
· Must have a strong desire to improve the quality and timeliness of GTI avionics/electrical engineering packages
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
· Ability to travel as required.
· Ability to work overtime as required.
