Triumph Controls, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of Aerospace, Industrial, Naval and Nuclear power products worldwide. The company uses its extensive engineering capabilities in mechanical and electromechanical devices to solve customer problems. We are looking for a talented forward thinking Buyer for our Shelbyville, IN facility.
This position purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and supplies necessary for operation of an organization. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Compiles information from periodicals, catalogs, and other sources to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Confers with vendors and analyzes vendors' operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records.
Responsibilities
· Identify and recommend suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, machinery, services and materials availability.
· Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates them as to production capability, performance, delivery and other key business criteria.
· Purchase parts, equipment and materials by preparing RFQ and submitting PO’s with approved suppliers.
· Evaluates bids for standard and non-standard items. Selects suppliers. Negotiates price, delivery, quality and services. Develops alternate sources.
· Negotiates and settles damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering changes with suppliers.
· Prepares moderately complex reports.
· Applies continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems to increase efficiency.
· Complies with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations; ensures adherence to requirements and advises management on needed actions.
· Utilizing developed cost targets, anticipated schedules, etc.; will identify and evaluate potential supply sources of commodity on a national basis.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelors degree or equivalent in-depth specialized training and have 3+ years purchasing/buying experience, preferably with military/aerospace environment.
· Experience in an ISO9000/QS9000 manufacturing environment.
· Experience with machine shop venders preferred.
· Must have the ability to read and understand blueprints and written detailed specifications.
· Must have good negotiating skills along with decision making and analytical thinking ability.
· Must exhibit high level of motivation, organization, attention to detail, energetic approach to job duties and requirements.
· Must be technically knowledgeable and capable of grasping detailed concepts.
· Must be a self-starter and have excellent leadership skills.
· Must have effective communicating skills both verbally and in writing and the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
· Excellent math skills.
· Proficient in Excel, MS word and MRP system.
· NAPM (ISM) and/or APICS certification preferred.
· Must be able to pass pre-employment physical as well as drug screen.
