Buyer (Aircraft Parts Purchasing Experience Required)

We are currently seeking a full-time Buyer for our Brea, CA office to evaluate quotations for commodities, supplies and services, negotiate price and delivery, and employ professional purchasing practices to maintain a continuity of supply that meets a specified level of service at the lowest possible total cost consistent with customer/contract quality requirements. 

 

Below are more specifics on the duties and requirements of the job, what KAPCO|VALTEC  can offer you, and the application procedures to be considered for this exciting opportunity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Identify commodity and quantity, supply or service needed by utilizing available resources such as in-house reports, historical purchasing data, the ERP/MRP system, Long Term Contracts, the Economical Order Quantity (EOQ) calculation worksheet, drawings, blueprints, purchase planners, data sheets, and material and design.Review and adjust ordering controls in the ERP/MRP system as required for unusal sales, order methods predicated on quantity breaks, and adjusting frozen products as necessary.For long-term contracts expiring in the current fiscal year, review and re-bid as necessary to maintain a competitive price structure.  Analyze costs and benefits of approved supplier options, make final selection of commodity and place orders.Identify and research alternative suppliers and jointly evaluate and approve with Product Management. Provide a complete and detailed tracking of all purchasing transactions and follow-up and follow-through on backorders and outstanding issues. Maintain complete and accurate purchasing information in all company databases and files. Respond to and resolve stock outs, spikes in usage, supplier breakdowns, and vendor non-conformance issues on a daily basis.Provide prompt, courteous, complete and thorough responses to all inquiries from vendors and/or company personnel.  Perform other duties as required by management.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Purchasing, or related field.  Professional purchasing certification preferred.

 Experience Requirements

Three to four years of experience in progressively responsible roles within purchasing, including at least 1-2 years as a Buyer within the aircraft parts industry

 Specific Industry or Job-Related Knowledge RequiredCost analysis and pricing Excellent negotiation and vendor management skillsAbility to read and interpret data sheets, purchase planners, and material and design specificationsComputer SkillsStrong proficiency in MS Office Suite applications including Word and Excel and solid data entry/typing proficiency.  Internet savvy.  Able to operate comfortably on a Non-GUI MRP/ERP interface (a system that is not point and click based, but that requires input of various commands to move from one screen to another)
